Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I purchased a 2003 Nissan Frontier from this dealership. I made it extremely clear, I did not want to have to return the vehicle. Kevin (Finance Manager) assured me that it would be approved. Two weeks later I received a certified letter rescinding the contract, and asking for the vehicle to be returned. I returned the vehicle, and obviously expected to receive my trade-in vehicle back. Well, while in their possession, my trade-in was vandalized.

One would expect them to take care of the vehicle, considering they knew the contract was not completely FINAL. Per the rescission rights on the sales contract, I returned the new truck in the same condition, reasonable wear and tear excepted. Should they not return my trade-in vehicle in the same condition? Instead they want to give me a check for the amount I was to receive towards the new truck. This amount is considerably less than what I might obtain if I were to sell it on my own. Besides all that, I just need a vehicle.

I bought a used truck ('94 Nissan Pathfinder) from a private party and soon after took it in to have the timing belt replaced and the 90K service done (cost $800). After taking it in to this dealer, it was apparent that the car was performing poorer than before (loss of power to be exact). I continued driving the car brushing aside the idea that they may have had something to do with it's poorer performance.

Very shortly after, I began to notice other problems that were not apparent before. Clutch noise/friction and excessive heating in the interior cab area. Concerned, I then took my car into AAA to have it diagnosed. The result was an exhaust manifold leak. Clutch problems were not diagnosed at this time.

So, I brought it back to the dealer to have it repaired and ended up costing me $1500 (for both right/left sides). After doing research about this specific problem, it turns out that this is very common among all Nissan cars/trucks equiped with this model engine. Confirmation of this also came from the dealership's service shop.

Still knowing that there may be a problem with the clutch, I took it in to a small service shop to see if they could diagnose a problem. They did and said that it was one of the bearings. So, I took it back to the same dealer to have them do the job. They originally could not diagnose the problem and told me the clutch was fine. After continually repeating to them the symptoms, they finally called me back the next day and said that there was something wrong with one of the bearings, and that the entire clutch needed to be replaced. So I had them replace it for an enormous amount of $1600.

Once again, after getting my car back, I immediately noticed other things about the way the car drove that were not originally present. More resistance shifting gears, a burning smell after use, and an annoying high-pitched humming sound while driving on the freeway.

I took the car back to have them further diagnose the problem. They came back and said that the increased resitance in shifting was due to a soon-to-be-bad syncro in the transmission (new tranny would be needed). The burning smell was due to the exhaust manifold paint still burning off. They were not able to hear the high-pitched humming noise at freeway speeds (untrue because one of the mechanics I rode with did notice it and blamed it on a bad rear differental...????).

All of these symptoms cropped up immediately after taking the car into this dealership. Is it really a coincidence that these problems are rising always after driving it home from the service shop? Or do I just have bad luck? I really don't believe that it is either of these, but more so that either this service shop employs a bunch of inexperienced, unqualified mechanics that do poor work costing customer more service dollars, or a shop that victimizes ignorant customers in an attempt to generate more revenue.

Ecomomic damage is about $4000.00
