The latest fiasco resulted from me taking my 97 Astro van in for service. The van was running rough for about a minute after being restarted.
I was told that the problem was a defective crank position sensor.I had them replace this part. (Note: they were going to charge me over 300.00 for this part even though it was a warranty item. I was the one who had to pull out a copy of the Major Guard warranty and inform the dealer of this. They also suggested I replace plugs, wires dist cap and rotor.
Since I didnt want to pay the 1200.00 price tag for basically a major tune up, I chose to get it done at my local mechanic.
The van continues to have the same problem as when I brought it to the dealer in the first place.
When I brought it back they said that the reason for the problem was a cracked plug.
They wanted $240.00 more to replace the faulty plug ($180.00)of this was labor.
When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that the manager refused to speak with me and that I had to come to the dealership. This is when I realized that there is absolutely no appreciation for the customer or spirit of service at this establishment.
The only reason I have even taken my car to them is the convenient location. I have encountered the same incompetence every time I have gone there. I guess I have learned my lesson now. I will never return to this dealership again.
After almost $900.00 of unnecessary repairs and loads of frustration I have yet to resolve this.
