Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Gilroy Auto Sales has a mechanic that works for the dealership under an alleged fictitious business name, but it's the same owner. We paid $900 to have our transmission fixed by an "independent mechanic" that "rents space" from Juliano (Owner / Manager) at Gilroy Auto Sales. Juliano referred us to his mechanic. The mechanic ruined the transmission more than when we originally brought it to them. We called Juliano for help, explaining that his mechanic was not returning our calls, Juliano explained that the mechanic was not his and that we were out of luck. He said that Gilroy Auto Sales is not responsible for the work of the mechanics that rents space from Gilroy Auto Sales.

We tried to plead with Juliano to have him ask his mechanic return our money, to which Juliano and Gilroy Auto Sales verbally attacked and yelled at us on the phone. Juliano tried to make it seem as if there was no connection between himself and the mechanic that he allegedly rents space to. We tried to plead with GIlroy Auto sales mechanic to at least fix the transmission if he was not going to return the money. The mechanic towed the car to their shop and kept the car for appox 30 days, all the while giving us the run around. Today the mechanic returned the car in worse condition than when we gave it to him, with the same broken transmission and promised to refund our money.

As of yet, neither Gilroy Auto Sales or their mechanic has returned our money. This two-bit, small town dealership is trying to use some corporate veil to mask the fraud they are perpetuating on consumers with their "independent mechanic." All that we ask is that they refund the money that they have stolen from us. We are disabled and on fixed income, we had to borrow most of the $900 to repair our vehicle and have nowhere else to turn. Please help us. Please provide a Spanish speaking representative in the event you contact me. Thank you.

I purchased a 2005 Cadillac STS on July 10, 2008. My husband and I went to see the car twice before purchasing it. We looked the car over very intensly and drove it both on the street and on the freeway. After several hours of negoition we purchased the car that evening. The dealership took the car to the back and washed it for us prior to us leaving the store. It was about 9:30 pm when we left. The next day we noticed water in the passenger side head lamp. We called Charles, the General Manager and told him the problem. The parts person, Kevin ordered the headlamp and stated it should be covered since we just purchased the car. When the headlamp came in the order to replace it was denied.I was told it would be about $1000 dollars to replace the headlamp and I would have to pay for it. I had only owned the care less then 72 hours! I feel this should have been noticed by the dealership and repaired prior to selling the car. Since it is summer and no rain the only way to see the headlamp was leaking was to wash the car...I am sure the car was wased prior to putting it on the lot for sale and I feel the dealship should replace this headlamp at no cost to me.It's not like I waited a long time to report it...I reported the problem to them immediatly. If the headlamp goes out due to water shorting it out it could be a safty hazarrd...
