On August 3rd, 2010, I drove my parent's car because they had informed me that while driving on numerous occasions, it felt like the engine was racing and very difficult to stop the car. I took the car out for a ride and as soon as I entered a stretch of road, I noticed myself the engine was roaring. In fact, as I was approaching at traffic light, the car wouldn't stop. For my safety and everyone around me, I finally had to use the emergency break to stop the vehicle. I slowly drove the car back home and informed my parents to have the car towed in the next day August 4, 2010 to Ed Morse Chevrolet to find out what went wrong.
According to the work invoice, they labeled the cause as Gas Pedal Sticking. My dad was briefed by the service advisor that Chevrolet Malibu has had several instances like this where the pedal was actually sticking. My concern is that this probably should have been a recall by GM but was not, probably because no one was seriously hurt or died from it. I can say it was very scary being in a car where the engine was roaring and unable to stop it. Luckily, my dad had extended insurance coverage but it still cost him $ 215.20 cents out of his pocket. I am requesting a full refund for out of pocket expenses and to further look into this to see if it is a complaint that has been going on with the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. I will mail/fax the receipt upon your request.
