Toyota of Hollywood

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

After buying 6 cars from the same dealership in cash over the years, I was lied to saying that for $5400 on a 96000 mile car, my 2002 Camry needed a new engine when all it needed was a head job. This was on Memorial Day Weekend and I have the recorded message on phone. My car is fixed now by a private mechanic and all it needed was a head job and a thermostat.

Last year (2008), I was looking to trade my car a Mazda 2006, monthly payments became to high for me, because of hard financial situation, on December 2008, I receive a letter from Capital One invited me to stop by Toyota Hollywood and see auto offers, I went to this dealer on December 18, 2008, with the intention of trade my Mazda 2006 and get a less expensive car, initially I spoke with Lisa H a sales representative, I explain my intentions to her, and after a certain time waiting , she told me that they can do something for me, after that she walked me thru the used cars parking lot in order to I choose a car, I like a Mitsubishi Gallant 2007, I asked her if that car could fit my financial needs, she told me yes, we can do it.?

Then I was sitting on Financial Office with Jeff C, the person who made negotiations with me, I explain again my intentions to trade may car, ALL THE TIME we were talking about TRADE because of the hard financial time everybody is passing in the country, recession and all this stuff, when I was signing the paperwork (almost 20 papers), he was very nice and talkative, distracting me with other themes of conversation, so I signed everything and I was convinced I was trading my car, then I went back to Lisa who told me " you can leave your Mazda 2006 here we take care about everything for you etc., you dont have to worry about nothing."

So I left my Mazda 2006 in their parking lot, I gave her my Mazda keys, and I leave happy with my TRADE and my new car.

After a month, January 18 2009, I receive a call from Mazda, asking for my monthly payment, I explain Mazda representative, I trade my car and I was told that the dealer will take care about everything with them, they told me they didnt receive payment from nobody and not even the car, I immediate call Lisa H and spoke with her about Mazda call, she told me one more time You have not to worry their going to call you in ten days to let you know everything is ok..?,, that never happens.

On February 18, 2009 I receive a second call from Mazda again asking for my two pending payments, (January and February), at that moment I start thinking that something were wrong, I took the contract with Toyota (that I never check before), and I went to the dealer again, at that time I realized I was a victim of a sort of scam, I asked for Lisa, they told me she was not working that day..? she never show up , I asked for Jeff C, they told me he is no longer with the company..?, I was so frustrated, a gentleman James H S spoke to me and explain that Mr. C made some bad movement with the company and etc. for that reason he works no more there.

As a result, I had to return the Mazda car that was TWO MONTH in their parking lot (seems like somebody was using the car all that time), now Mazda reposes the car and my credit is going to hurt seriously, they sent me a letter explain to me that if they sell the car again for less price I have to pay for the difference, off course I have no money to pay that.

Do you think I can do something against TOYOTA HOLLYWOOD..?

I brought a car from this dealer. I had this car for only two months and start to have problems with this car. My brakes started making noises, when you make a right turn you weill hear the cv joints making noises. when you press the gas it is hard to press sometimes. I called the dealer asked to speak to a sales manager and was told that I will have to pay for the car to be service. I told the manager I just brought the car and I should not have to pay to service the car. If the car was service before I had brought it, I would not be having problems. Everytime I try calling I keep getting the run around and I don't think that this is fair and it sure is not good business.

They sold me a toyota celica gt-2002 in $ 13.500,but they assured me that car belongs to a private owner since new,but I got a report from autocheck vehicle history reports, and in reality that car was always in LEASE record, and finally they got it in an AUCTION,if I knew that before the closing business,I never will be given that money, for a car with that history. My question in this case is.. What I can do it,at this stage and If was legal for them not to inform me of that car history.I gave them $5000.0
and the rest was finance, the business was done on 12/27/06

The consecuences are obviously economically,I paid too much for a car that practically belongs to many drivers, every time a new lease was contracted,I am very upset and I don't think they are using the word Democracy and free market for been a crook, any law has to be in existence to protect consumers from this kind of malpractice in business.
