I bought a 2002 Chevy Malibu the end in October 2011. The odometer read 141k miles; they said, the engine had been rebuilt at 140k. Two days after I purchased the car, the "check engine" light came on. Upon checking the fluids, I found there was no oil or water in the engine. I replaced the oil and water, and took the car into the dealer.
Though they claimed to "fix" the problem, when I got the car back within 2 or 3 days, again, the light came on. Also, three lights have burnt out, the doors lock and unlock arbitrarily, the horn honks for no reason at times and there is water getting into the trunk. Two months and one payment later, the car has been in and out of their shop at least 4 times and presently, they've had the car in their shop for a week and one half. They have been evasive about the problems and are charging me a deductible under the "warranty". This have cost me over $280 in rental car expenses. It feels as if they are intentionally delaying things, hoping we will use up all our monies on rentals, buses and such, then miss the next payment and they'll claim the car back. They've replaced a valve twice and now say, a gasket is blown.
How does a car with a rebuilt engine blow a gasket and two valves in under 3,500 miles of usage?! Simple: They lied. There is no way this engine was rebuilt or at a minimum. They did a horrible job and should cover all the costs to get this car working correctly since it showed problems from day two of the purchase.
