Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I purchased a brand new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan back in July 28 of 2008. The vehicle had 13 miles in it. It came with a 3 year, 36K mile warranty. In December of 2011, I needed repairs and my local dealership said that I no longer had any warranty. They said that the warranty had expired in December 28 of 2010, even though It should not have expired until July 28th of 2011. I was told that I purchased a used auto and that the original owner had the warranty until december 28 of 2010. They said that I had no recourse because I purchased a used car.

I was conned. I didn't know that I purchased a used car, besides, it only had 13 miles in it, who would have thought that it was used. I have brake problems now with over a $500 bill to have it repaired and I have to pay because they won't honor the warranty. I had only 35, 925 miles when we brought it in. They put in a new brake computer chip for $500 and I had to pay for it.

It's just not right. What can I do? What recourse do I have legally. I heard that dealers can't sell a brand new car as a used car.

On Feb.1, 2010, I went to the dealership to purchase a car. I ended up with a 2000 intrepid. I thought that the car was in good shape, when I went back into the office a few days later, so that they could put a GPS device on the car, took the car home and on Feb. 14th had to run some errands, and on the way back home I started to smell something that was burning. I got the car back to my house, only to find out that the car was over heating.

I cut the car off and then the next day, I went to check under the hood to find out that there wasn't any coolant in the car. I then went to go purchase some. I then filed it up and the car would not start up. I went to call the car dealer back and told them what was going on and they sent a tow truck, to come and pick the car up. I followed up with the dealership to see what was going on and I did not get a respond to almost a week.

I then found out that the engine was not any good. I was told to come back in a few days to see if the owner would be able to help me get in to another car. Every time I called or went to the dealer to talk to the owner, he would not be available for me to talk to. So finally, after going on two weeks, I went back to the dealer to ask for my money back in the amount of $1300. They basically laughed at me. I was then told to come back to see the owner again. By this time I had it, the police was called and I explained to them what was going on. They advised me to seek some legal advice because it was now a civil matter.
