My husband David and his friend and neighbor Owen were quoted $18,000 out the door for a 2088 Dodge Dakota with a trade in allowance of $1,000 for our 1996 Saturn. My husband called me on the desk phone of the sales person Theresa A., He told me the deal saying he could get the truck for $18,000 out the door but that it had to be done that day before 5:00pm. That lady had the chance right then to correct David if there was a misunderstanding about price. She said nothing.
When my husband picked me up along with the pink slip to the saturn we were rushed to get the deal done that day by 5:00pm. A man I think his name was Fred repeatedly shredded forms saying that he did not usually do the sgining and the regular person who did this work was not there. Feeling uneasy about the whole thing, I thought I would take the paperwork home and it would make sense. but when we got home and looked over the figures none of it made any sense nor did it reflect the deal we were verbally promised.
the next morning, less than 18 hours later we returned to the dealership and voiced our complaints. a man I think his name was Chris saw that we were very unhappy and offered to try to get better financing for us. He was animate that we would not get a price adjustment. so that being the case we agreed to let him look into better financing at a lower rate. We were so rushed the evening before we didn't even have a chance to notice that there was no owners manual in the truck.
The employees we were dealing with basically called us liars and kept referencing the tape they had recorded during the signing of the paperwork. there was no tape of the verbal quotes that we were quoted by miss Allen. In the morning when we returned to find some resolution to the difference in pricing, we were rudely told that we were stuck with the deal and that we had buyers remorse. We feel that what we really had was victims remorse.
My husbnad and I have fairly good credit and we could very well found better financing on our own. The general Prinicpal of this situation is that we were honest aned trusted this dealership and we believe that they took full advantage of our trust in them.
The Economic and physical damage that resulted is that South I-75 Chrysler Dodge Jeep used Unethical and possibly illegal tactics used when we were purchasing a vehicle. We beleive our experiance risies to the level that warrants investigation. As far as consequenes, we have lost faith and trust in companies that use shady tactics to lure potential consumers into unfair dealings.
