Tischer Nissan

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I saw an ad in the paper for a new 2010 Altima in College park but decided to stop by Tischer on my way to see what kinds of deals they were having. I was told they didn't have any 2010 left but would be able to match the price of what was in the paper. Eventually, the price ended up being 2k more, so I said I wasn't rims put on and we went back and forth for several hours about that. Finally, they agreed, I signed the papers and was told to bring the car in on Monday for the new Alloy wheels to be put on and that it would only take a couple of hours.

I didn't get my car back till Tuesday evening and the wheels that were put on were not Nissan which I didn't realize till the next day because it was dark. I called and complained to the sales guy and he had is manager call me. The manager stated that the never specified that they would put on Nissan wheels but I was never told otherwise. I assumed that since I was buying a new Nissan that they would be genuine Nissan parts. I told him that if I would have know that I wouldn't have bought the car and he said if you are not happy then bring the car back. I looked at the invoice they gave me and it states they purchased the wheels from tire rack. I looked them up and they were 59 a piece on clearance. They hub caps that were originally on the care cost more than that. This is my first time purchasing a new car and needless to say I am not a very happy consumer.

In June, we took our Quest into Tischer Acura Nissan in Laurel because it ws smoking and we were concerned that there was an oil leak. This was before our warrenty went out. We were told that there was no leak and they could not see a problem. Following a family vacation on the 11th of August, the engine started making noises when accelarating.

Wednesday the 12th, we had it towed to Tischer Nissan in Laurel. Once they looked at it, they called and the first question they asked was when the last oil change was. We had just had the oil changed on 9 August. They said there was no oil in the vehicle and the engine was ruined. (confirming our hunch that there might be a leak). Now we are being told that Nissan will not cover the new engine cost and Tischer is refusing resposibility even though they looked at it just in June and told us there was no problem. Obviously there was a problem.

After all this, I called consumer affairs Sunday the 16th of August. I recieved a voicemail from the regional manager on Monday and have left several voicemails since then to today. This morning, after calling the consumer affairs line and speaking with someone else, the manager called while I was on the phone giving a status to my spouse. I left several messages since and have not recieved a call back.

The main point is, when we had the van in before the warrenty ran out in June because it was smoking and possibly leaking oil, something should have been done then, but we took the word of the "professionals". My van is out of commision leaving me to search for a way to get children to school and back unless I leave my work so my spouse has a vehicle. If I pay the $4400 they are asking for the engine costs, I will not be able to make my monthly payments.
