Leased a 2003 Mini Cooper and purchased the car a the end of the lease. Car was great--one problem with the rear hatch falling off was fixed NO QUESTIONS with a loaner for a week so I thought Go mini, customer for life here! At just under 90,000 miles the transmission died on the spot one morning. The car was five years old at the time. Blue book estimate was about $12,000.
The estimate to fix was it was $8,760. I.E. close to HALF the sticker price five years earlier. This estimate was later lowered to $7,600. I asked about the dealer buying it or trade-in value toward another car. They offered me $1,500 cash and told me it had no trade in value unless I got it fixed first. Always wanted a Mini. Am fortunate enough to easily afford another one. Not going to happen. One caveat: the person I dealt was great and did her absolute best without a doubt. The support she appeared to receive was nil.
Only disappoint, a few thousand dollars and 5 of the 10 years I hoped to get out of the car.
