Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I want to let those of you who read my previous post that the dealer that I originally purchased my Prius was not Adams Toyota. It was a dealership that has gone out of business - Roger Smith, I believe. Adams did not tell me that they would replace the battery if it gave out - Roger Smiths did.

Adams did shave off their profit, but Toyota Corp paid for half the battery, $1800 and I paid the remaining $1800. Thanks to Toyota Corp. Please post this so that it is clear that Adams wasn't responsible for misleading me (and others) to believe we would not have to replace the $7000 battery out of our pocket.

I bought a 2002 Toyota Prius, used, with 10,000 miled on it. I grilled the salesmen on the battery issue as I had heard they cost about $7000. The dealer told me that Toyota would not allow anyone to suffer from a battery problem because this was the first hybrid, the first such battery and if the batteries had problems, their reputation would be damaged. He told me that I didn't need to worry because these batteries were being tested and would be taken care of if necessary.

Mine just died and the Adam Toyota staff are holding me hostage to the tune of $4500 for a NEW battery - the same one I was told I would never have to purchase. I am one of two customers at Adams Toyota that have ever had a battery go bad. Lucky me. They won't replace it with a new battery at no expense - even though I was assured - when I bought it- that I didn't need to worry. Why should MY DEFECTIVE battery burden me for $4500 when the non-defective batteries are still working for the others who just were lucky. I guess Toyota thinks it is unbeatable and, after all, how much noice can the two of us lucky stiffs really make. Adams Toyoto doesn't think I am important enough to worry about but I am not going quietly.
