When I picked up the car all appeared ok. I got about 6 miles and discovered the left rear break was nearly locked, smoke pouring out from the wheel. I pulled over and discovered the caliper was locked, and the rotor was smoking like crazy and it turned blue and shiny. I could no longer move the car and had to call the dealership. I asume they did not test drive the car after completing the break work. I was told they they would figure out what went wrong and replace the caliper. I informed them that the rotor should also be replaced as it was fryed from the 6 mile drive. Additionally, I requested they replace the rear pads as they too were cooked.
My car sat at the dealer for over TWO weeks and when they finally called me to pick it up I discovered they only installed a new caliper. They left the damaged rotor and break pads on this new car. I also noticed on my sales reciept that the mileage both IN & OUT were the same, thus the car again was NOT road tested.
This afternoon after leaving the dealer I discovered that the left rear break sqeeks when the breaks are applied. I feel as if I was paying out of pocket the dealership would have made a point of replacing all the damaged parts, not just the caliper. Additinonally, there was not a problem with the caliper when I originally brought the car in for the rotor issue. The caliper was more than likely not properly put back on when the rotors were replace.
Anyhow, what I'm requesting is not anything more than what should have been done in the first place. Also, I waited over two weeks while the car just sat in the lot. The service manager, Mike stated that the parts are not being manufactured as much as they used to, causing the deplay. I find this to bad a made up excuise.
I do not have the free time to go back and forth, leaving the car for a problem that should be repaired correctly the first time. The left rear rotor and the break pads should be replaced as they were scourched and are sqeeking.
