Pine Belt Chrysler

Lakewood & Trenton, NJ

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I went to Pinebelt Chrysler Jeep planning to buy a 2007 Jeep Liberty that was listed in the autoshopper magazine for 9,215 by the dealer. Upon arrival at the dealer I was informed that the car was no longer in stock and they had a different 2007 Jeep Liberty for 12,000. When we got out to the 12,000 Jeep Liberty I noticed that the vin number on it matched the one in the autoshopper ad. I informed Perry the salesman that they were the exact same vehicles and he quickly went back into the dealer to correct his mistake. He then returned back outside to the Jeep.

He informed me that he was mistaken and the 2007 liberty was really 16,000. He also informed me that the ad that was printed in the autoshopper magazine was a misprint. According to the Rick (the general manager) and Perry (the salesman) the dealer is not responsible for any misprints in the autoshopper magazine. So, I called autoshopper at approximately 12:30 pm and spoke with Linda.

Linda informed me that in order for the dealer not to be held responsible for the listed price was if they notified autoshopper magazine of the mistake in a written document or over the telephone. Linda also informed me that Pinebelt Jeep did not notify autoshopper magazine of the error so, autoshopper was not responsible.

I returned to the dealer with the news and spoke with Rick. He told me he did not care if the dealer was responsible and that he would not sell me the 2007 Jeep Liberty for the listed price of 9,215. I feel like that I was discriminated against because I am only 19 years old. I also feel as if I was treated very unfairly. There must be some kind of laws to prevent people like me who are shopping for a car to not be ripped of. And, I know that there are laws that hold businesses responsible for the prices that they have listed vehicles for.

In Oct. we purchased a Pacifica and turned in a Chrysler 300. We were told that because of the program we were using and the fact that my October payment on the 300 had just been made, we would not have to make payment on the new vehicle until December. Then appx. 2 weeks ago we started receiving harrassing and threatening phone calls from Chrysler Credit looking for payment. We explained that we didn't even have a payment book or account number on the car and were not supposed to pay until Dec.

They explained that they were looking for payment on the 300, which, of course, we no longer had. We explained this to them and they said to bad, it's your credit, you had better fix this and if it's not fixed by Monday, we will be turning you name into the credit companies as delinquent payments, which they have done. (Now it will take me a year, once I fix this, to fix my credit report). We have been calling the dealer over and over, he has given us the runaround, gone on vacation, not returned calls (this is the General Manager. Today, when I finally reached him, I asked to speak w/the owner and was told that not only would he not speak with me, he wouldn't even know what the program was that I was on.. How sad to think that on their phone system (which I have heard over and over while waiting on hold) that they are proud that they are a family owned business for x amount of years, that he would not know the programs offered him by Chrysler...

At any rate, I never got to speak w/him... I was promised this would be taken care of today and that my credit would be reinstated and I would not have to pay the November payment on the new car. It is now 10:45 in the evening and I have not received that phone call. However, last evening (after being on the phone for 4 hours yesterday with them) we rec'd another call from Chrysler Credit to which my husband tried to explain the circumstances once more. An arguement ensued which turned into Chrysler Credit screaming at my husband, leaving him extremely upset and frustrated. I was afraid a trip to the hospital would take place. I have never been treated like this in my life and have tried always to keep our credit up. I need assistance with this and don't know where to turn.

I even called Chrysler today and was told that the dealers are independants and they couldn't help me either. Where does one turn? Is Chrysler in so much trouble that it is trying to have it's customers pay double for something they no longer own?

This has created stress and tension in my household. It has taken incredible time away from our business and my workplace. I have been on the phone almost constantly over the past two or three weeks trying to rectify this situation. I have been stuck in countless voice mails pressin 1 and 5 and whatever number I can only to go on to another recording. My husband is not well and this is not helping the situation. I don't owe this money, have not owed this money, do not have this car and feel that I have been taken advantage of and am a pawn in between Chrysler Credit and the dealer. Both of whom have the name Chrysler and both claim they are separate entities and cannot deal w/each other.... I don't understand. And then Chrysler who must have something to do w/both, tell me that they can't help me either? Last week I spoke with a man at the dealship who told me that he couldn't help me, when I said I didn't know what else to do, I would have to go to the paper or something he smugly stated go ahead! Not exactly the type of red carpet service one would expect. If you can offer me any assistance, OR point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
