In Oct. we purchased a Pacifica and turned in a Chrysler 300. We were told that because of the program we were using and the fact that my October payment on the 300 had just been made, we would not have to make payment on the new vehicle until December. Then appx. 2 weeks ago we started receiving harrassing and threatening phone calls from Chrysler Credit looking for payment. We explained that we didn't even have a payment book or account number on the car and were not supposed to pay until Dec.
They explained that they were looking for payment on the 300, which, of course, we no longer had. We explained this to them and they said to bad, it's your credit, you had better fix this and if it's not fixed by Monday, we will be turning you name into the credit companies as delinquent payments, which they have done. (Now it will take me a year, once I fix this, to fix my credit report). We have been calling the dealer over and over, he has given us the runaround, gone on vacation, not returned calls (this is the General Manager. Today, when I finally reached him, I asked to speak w/the owner and was told that not only would he not speak with me, he wouldn't even know what the program was that I was on.. How sad to think that on their phone system (which I have heard over and over while waiting on hold) that they are proud that they are a family owned business for x amount of years, that he would not know the programs offered him by Chrysler...
At any rate, I never got to speak w/him... I was promised this would be taken care of today and that my credit would be reinstated and I would not have to pay the November payment on the new car. It is now 10:45 in the evening and I have not received that phone call. However, last evening (after being on the phone for 4 hours yesterday with them) we rec'd another call from Chrysler Credit to which my husband tried to explain the circumstances once more. An arguement ensued which turned into Chrysler Credit screaming at my husband, leaving him extremely upset and frustrated. I was afraid a trip to the hospital would take place. I have never been treated like this in my life and have tried always to keep our credit up. I need assistance with this and don't know where to turn.
I even called Chrysler today and was told that the dealers are independants and they couldn't help me either. Where does one turn? Is Chrysler in so much trouble that it is trying to have it's customers pay double for something they no longer own?
This has created stress and tension in my household. It has taken incredible time away from our business and my workplace. I have been on the phone almost constantly over the past two or three weeks trying to rectify this situation. I have been stuck in countless voice mails pressin 1 and 5 and whatever number I can only to go on to another recording. My husband is not well and this is not helping the situation. I don't owe this money, have not owed this money, do not have this car and feel that I have been taken advantage of and am a pawn in between Chrysler Credit and the dealer. Both of whom have the name Chrysler and both claim they are separate entities and cannot deal w/each other.... I don't understand. And then Chrysler who must have something to do w/both, tell me that they can't help me either? Last week I spoke with a man at the dealship who told me that he couldn't help me, when I said I didn't know what else to do, I would have to go to the paper or something he smugly stated go ahead! Not exactly the type of red carpet service one would expect. If you can offer me any assistance, OR point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
