Clint Newell Motors

Roseburg, OR

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I had to have left headlight bulb changed and was charged $99 for labor, $20.30 for bulb and $4.95 for shop supplies, additional dealer profit for a total of $124.25. I had right front bulb changed in Lacey Washington at a gas station and it cost less than $25. I feel this is a bit excessive. My car is a 2006 Avalon.

On April 6, 2005, Clint Newell Motors entered a judgement against me and put a lien against my home as a result of not fixing a safety issue in my Avalon, and yet they are insisting that I still owe them for services not rendered. I was living in Michigan at the time of the incident that nearly cost me my life in the Rocky Mountains coming back to Roseburg, OR to visit my Mom. The fan and defrost quit working during the bad weather while traveling those treacherous roads. I could not see from the fog on my window--it just would not work that day nor the next. I nearly slipped off the road.

When I made it to Roseburg, I took it into the only Toyota dealer in Roseburg, Clint Newell. I told them to do whatever it takes to get it fixed, as I was so frightened. They did a lot of services, which I put on my credit card; but on the trip back to Michigan, they had not fixed my safety issue, the fan, and defroster! I took it into the Toyota dealer in Kalamazoo, MI. The service manager said that I should complain to Toyota, as Clint Newell had taken advantage of me, taking a scared, single woman out-of-towner, and that Clint Newell did over $800.00 in services and they did not fix anything.

I started with disputing the charges with my credit card company, and after 90 days and no response from Clint Newell, around $600.00 of the charges were taken off. I also spoke with the service manager, I believe his name was Frank **, and I agreed to pay for $200.00--but that was not sufficient for him, he wanted the whole thing!

So he served me papers and took me to court, got a hold of a judge who would not even listen to my side; and she ruled against me. Although I was living in Michigan at the time, I did have a rental in Roseburg which Clint Newell Motor, Inc. put a lien against. In order to get a home equity loan with Cascade Community Federal Credit Union, they said that I had to pay the $759.05 off to Clint Newell, which I did on March 4, 2010, even though I did not owe Clint Newell this money.

I also made several calls to Toyota Inc. about what the dealer was doing to me, and Toyota would not help me in any way, shape, or form. I sold the vehicle the following year, as no mechanic could fix the issue--the fan would malfunction in cold temperatures apparently. It was still under warranty, but Toyota would not help me with Clint Newell.
