I went with my daughter to help her buy a new Mazda. My daughter had looked at a car she liked but it didn't have a sun-roof which she was hoping to get so she left the Dealership telling them she was only willing to pay $326.00 per month for a payment and wanted a sun-roof. They called her at home and agreed to the monthly payment price of $326.00 and they enticed her with the promise of a check for $1000.00 after the signing. While at the dealership we decide to add an Extended Warranty (Big Mistake)

That allowed them to juggle numbers since the the monthly payment would now go up. I had an uncomfortable feeling because of the way they wouldn't put anything down on paper and when they did scibble you could hardly read it. There was a lot of waiting and private conversations we were not part of. After several hours they finally had the paperwork done and my daughter signed away. We left with the car and went out to celebrate. The next day my daughter discovered they had tucked the $1000.00 they promised into the sales contract. So they never really gave her anything. She is not only paying for the $1000.00 she is paying interest on it.

I felt that was very dishonest of them and told the so. She took time off from work to straighten it out but they were rude and disrespectful. I'll never reccommend Quirk Mazda to anybody and will tell many of my friends and relatives of the underhanded practices of the Quirk Mazda Dealership

It cost us time, aggravation and embarsment because we were foolish in not reviewing the details more diligently.

When I informed the service dept. that the flex-pipe from the exhaust manifold on my 2003 Passat needed replacing, they informed me that it would cost $2400.00. As I had previously visited an independent repair shop and was quoted $300.00 to fix the problem, I asked the service representative at Quirk if there was an alternative less expensive repair. He informed me that he just recalled that I could go to a muffler shop and have new pipes welded in as opposed to replacing the whole assembly which included the catalytic converters.

Two years ago I hade the same repair at Quirk performed on a 1999 Jetta which cost more than $700.00. At that time, I was not informed of the alternative less expensive repair. I feel that not informing a customer of all the options available when making a decision is not only unethical but downright dishonest. Needless to say,neither I nor my family will ever patronize Quirk Volkswagen.

What a horrible experience we had at Quirk Mazda in Quincy MA, I went with my girlfriend to help her buy a new Mazda. We were quoted a great price on the phone and we thought we were getting a great deal because it was the last day of the month. So we went in to buy the car spending two and a half hours test riding and filling out paper work.

Everybody seemed polite and friendly as was the young salesman, except his personal story kept changing, about what he drove and where he came from. Everything was going smoothly up until the last moment, everything was done; credit check, throw in the floor mats shook hands with the sales manager etc. Starting to relax and convinced we were about to sign and buy the car we leaned back in our chairs. The sales manager came swaggering over saying there's a problem. As my heart is sinking he tells us they can't sell us the car we drove and stood around for almost two hours, at this price, he claimed the young salesman quoted us for the wrong car.

I was in shock after spending all afternoon there. Bait and Switch I never thought they did that any more especially in a large dealership but here it was happening and my precious Saturday was wasted at Quirk Mazda, all we could do was walk away. After all that, shouldn't you, as a manager, just sell the car if you made the mistake?

This resulted only in their loosing my business. I guess I'm glad I found out early their sales department is deceptive rather than discover after buying from them.

I have been having trouble with a 2006 VW Passat that I leased in Jan 2007.

I was sent to Quirk by other dealership employees. They have cream of the crop used cars. I bought a 2003 4motion passat, clean, low mile car. I ran a carfax, showed nothing. The rear drivers side door and wheel well had been hit pretty bad and not fixed properly. The door leakes and the rear window is fogged up at any hint of moisture.Brought the car back for the pre-cert that they never did and complained about the door. The service manager was very helpful and told me to bring it up with the GM Mike Quirk. He doesn't want to do anything for me. I got a $1200 estimate to fix the problem, this car was suppose to be perfect according used car sales mngr Kevin. From the start of my experience with them has been nothing but a big lie.

As a result of the long wait, my car has more damage and i would have gone to another autobody shop but i was afraid of being charged twice for the same parts.

I took my 2003 VW Jetta 1.8T to Quirk Volkswagen in Braintree, MA, to get a routine 60,000 mile service. Before taking it in, an associate at Quirk quoted me $190 price tag for the routine 60,000 mile maintenance service. My car was serviced on the morning of September 9th, 2006.

Halfway through the service, an associate notified me that I needed my rear brakes replaced, and that it would cost me an additional $350. I agreed to it and ended up paying close to $550 for everything.

Minutes after I drove my car out of the service area on my way home, I realized that I felt no difference in my brakes, even though technically they had been replaced. Worse still, the check engine and check coolant lights came on right away, and the air conditioning system stopped working. The car started to severely overheat. I was very surprised, since the engine lights had NEVER come on before, and the car had had no problems before my visit to Quirk.

I called the dealer back immediately. They told me to bring the car back right away, so I did. They checked the car AGAIN, and told me that the cooling fan was broken, so the cooling fluid wasn't cooling the car the way it should. I told them that the fan was in perfect condition when I brought it in earlier, and wondered why they hadn't noticed a malfunction if they had just performed the 60,000 mile service earlier that morning.

The Volkswagen Maintenance Schedule lists that on a 60,000 mile service, the Cooling System is checked, so technically there shouldn't have been any problems if they had done the work correctly the first time. I find it an odd coincidence that minutes after I drove the car out of the service area, the cooling system failed, when the car was in perfect condition prior to my visit to Quirk. I was forced to leave my car there for the weekend, since driving it without a proper cooling system could damage the engine in minutes. When I picked up the car a few days later, I was charged $490 to replace the fan, plus an additional $200 to replace the engine light that had fried as a result.

I felt I was taken advantage of, and feel that the Quirk service department, by failing to detect the problem during their regular 60,000 mile maintenance, purposely caused severe damage to the car's cooling system . The associates at Quirk were extremely misleading and did a poor job with the maintenance. I was forced to schedule another visit to another dealership later to review that the right work had been done, and to make sure that Quirk associates hadn't damaged other parts of my engine. I will never bring my car to Quirk for service ever again. I am filing a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney General and Consumer Affairs with the hope that future customers are not taken advantage of the way I was.

I brought my car to be repaired. The service department informed me that my driveshaft plate was cracked and it was not covered by my warranty eventhough my drivetran warranty is still in effect and it coveres defects in the driveshaft. They informed me that it wasn't covered by the warranty and I would have to pay $1277.10.

After I paid my bill, the service person informed me to hold onto my receipt because it is a known defect and there may be a recall soon and I would get a refund. In fact, he said I was one of two cars in today (4/24/06) for the same problem.

If it is a known defect and my car is still under warranty, why am I being charged? Not only is this deceptive practice, it may be fraudulent.

I was charged $1277.10 for something that should have been covered by my warranty.

Thursday 10th November my Phaeton was overheating - warning lights came on and temp guage was at 200. I called Quirk and they asked me to have it towed to them, using VW roadside assistance (no charge to me.) I asked when I should have it towed as I could manage without the car until Friday 18th, but I had to have it on the 18th. The service representative asked me to have it towed to them on Tuesday 15th when their Phaeton specialist would be able to look at it. Wednesday 16th I called Quirk in the afternoon for an update. I was told that they would not look at the car until next week and they could not provide me with a loaner.

I immediately called the Phaeton hotline and complained. They said that they would rent a car for me if necessary but they would try to have it fixed by Friday. Thursday I spoke with the service manager at Quirk who again said he could not guarantee that the car would be looked at or fixed by Tuesday 22nd (we need the car for a road trip over Thanksgiving). I call the Phaeton hotline and explain that I really need a loaner on Friday for the weekend if the car isn't fixed. No problem they say, we will take care of things.

I also go on to say that I have a short window of time to pick up a car in the late afternoon and that if I need to go to Quirk to get a rental I need to know Friday morning to arrange a ride. Friday 18th comes around and Quirk Braintree call me at lunch time to ask me to describe exactly what is wrong with the car. At 2.00 pm I call Phaeton hotline and they tell me that the car is out for a road test. They will call me back to let me know if I can have it today. I explain I need to know now to arrange a ride. At 4.30 Quirk call me to say come and pick up the car. I explain that they need to deliver it as they did not tell me soon enough to arrange a ride. Oh no, Quirk can't do that. OK, can you deliver it first thing Saturday morning. No.

I call Phaeton and they agree to pay for my taxi fare to Braintree. I ask them to tell the Service Department to wait for me as I do not know how long it will take for the taxi to get to my house and then to get to Braintree (Friday night traffic, etc.) At 6.00 pm I call Quirk - switchboard already closed down and I cannot get through to anyone. I call Phaeton hotline to ask them to get through to say the I am almost there. I arrrive at Quirk at 6.10pm. My car is inside the service bay and all the doors are locked.

Consdering the lack of service received from Quirk, and the specific request to wait for me, they could have waited. Or they could have used their common sense and at least parked the car outside so I could have picked it up with the spare key. I wasted 2 hours in a taxi and heavy traffic. Now I have to waste time on Saturday morning picking up the car.

Phaeton USA will reimburse me - but that doesn't make up for lost time. I had nothing but inconsistant reports from Quirk - we will look at it on Tuesday, then next week, then perhaps not, now its ready.

I have told Phaeton that they do not have the infrastructure to back a luxury model - beautiful car but no service and every time it goes in there is a headache.


Huge inconvenience.
We now want to get out of the lease because VW are supposed to provide a loaner when the car goes in and so far they have not been able to. Last time it went in for an oil change and we set it up for a car rental, we ended up having to wait for the car. The last VW dealer we dealt with, who leased the Phaeton to us actually damaged the car when they had it in - they drove it without transmission fluid and dented two doors. They lied about doing this and an insurance adjuster who happeded to be there documented the whole event.

We are fed up with VW USA - they do not follow through with their commitment to their customers.

In addition to experiencing a blown out cylinder, I also had the following problems:

. Driver's and passenger's windows stuck in the down position, having to be replaced.

. Engine Temperature gauge stuck on C.

. Check engine light on multiple times, each time having to bring it in and it turned out it was a glitch in the computer.

. Latest news! At only 62,000 miles, having taken excellent care of my car with regular oil changes etc, the transmission dies. VW offering to only to pay $25 per day for my rental. It's been at the dealership for about 2 weeks now, with my current rental cost at almost $700!

My wife purchased a brand new Mazda 2004 MPV from Quirk. Her second vehicle from them. In a 12 day period starting Dec. 10, 2004:

The transmission broke again, transmission control module replaced and returned to us 1 day later

The transmission broke again, the throttle position center was replaced and it was returned to us. The car actually worked for 4 weeks.

2005

The dealer will not admit there is anything wrong with the car. The just keep fixing it and send us on our way. The GM began lemon law talks with my wife during the fourth repair because he verbally stated, along with a Service Department Rep' that there is something definatley wrong with the car. However, once it got fixed, he began quoting the Lemon Law and yada yada yada.

The dealership insists they are under no obligation to perhaps try a little harder with us. We feel after the 4th breakdown of a brand new Mazda, we'd get a little extra courteous treatment.
Did I mention this is the second mini-van we purchased from them; the first was bullet-proof, great car, never needed service.

As a result, during all four of the breakdowns, I had to take loss time at work to assist my wife. We had to rent a min-van so she could continue working, which of course Quirk does not reimburse for.

My wife has given up and went out and bought a new SUV. She is a pet sitter and transports many dogs a day. It is too high a risk to transport them in a mini-van they may break down at any moment. Absolutley no one should be treated the way we were at Quirk. Unfortunatley, it appears they have the law on their side.

I was planning to buy a new car and my first choice was Mazda 3. So, I went down to the closer dealership in my area(Quirk in Quincy/Braintree MA). It was the worst customer service even. I had a sale Associate named Yianni Emmanouilidis. He was unprofessional and unrespectful to customer. The whole experience with this dealership was awful. I will never even consider to go for any mazda's car again. After that my friend recommanded I went to Toyota dealership.Which also at Quincy. It was a heaven like experience and the Sale Associate was professional and nice to answer my question.

I am unable to access traffic and safety information during my 3 hour commute in the boston area.

Have a 2000 VW Jetta. After speaking with Volkswagen Consumer Advocate (Don)My C.D. player jammed and would not work. Check engine light came on, and my brakes were vibrating alot.He said this should not be a problem.Took car to dealer paid 85.30 to fix the check engine light. (Tempeture sensor) dealer said the rotors were warped needed new rotors & pads. $400 something. Dealer told me the radio needed replacement.

This car is 3 years old and has only 18300 miles on it. These things do not happen to a car with these numbers. I believe the rotors are defective along with the radio. The tepmpeture conrol sensor should not have burned out either.I feel strongly Volkswagen of America should stand by there produt and fix these problems. After calling Volkswagen Consumer advocates @1-800-822-8987 and speaking with Anglia they refused to assist me in any way claiming length of warranty. I am under the mileage but over on years. These problems stem from defective parts.

The econonic results are I will have to pay over $400.00 to fix the brakes and over $200.00 to replace the radio. Paid $85.30 to replace the tempeture sensor.

I had to bring in my car for warranty repairs.First time the dealership provided the rental car for a couple of days.They informed me that the parts were not availible and i had to come back.On the same day that they informed me to pick up my car I came and picked it up. I came back about two weeks later for my appointment.

On the appointment day which was on Tuesday September 10'th,2002 I have contacted Mr. Jared Robbins, since his name was listed on the invoice that I have recieved from the dealership. Mr. Robbins has done his paperwork and told me that I am all set to proceed to the shuttle. Basically he send me with an infant child in one hand and the car seat in the other, to the shuttle to pick up the rental car.

I had no choice than to take the shuttle bus with my baby on my lap which is against any safety mesures concerning my child. Fortunately no incidents happened.After making all the arrangements for the rental car I was informed by the rental Agent Ms. Margaret that the dealership will not cover the rental car expenses. I contacted Mr. Robbins and he confirmed that information. I was very upset because I had to go through all the trouble with my infant child to find out that I had to pay for the rental car.I was there in person and completely ignored to get informed about the rental situation.I requested to talk to the manager and Mr. Mike Grisolia answered the phone. I tried talking to Mr. Grisolia and pointed out that the repairs done to my car are warranty repairs,and therefore i should not pay for the rental car.Mr. Grisolia was short tempered about the issue and he accused me of trashing the last rental car with McDonald's baggs.

To top off Mr. Grisolia's unprofessional and rude behavior he then contacted my husband at his work stating that his wife was bitching arround and that he needs to disciplin his wife.Later, after I sent complaint letters to the GM,Mr. Quirk and his executive assiastant I received an upsetting letter from Mr. Grisolia that contained many truth twisting facts.He states that in addition to trashing the rental car I also kept it two days more than I was supposed to,and he justify's himself by mirepresenting the truth about Mazda's limit for rental car expense. Which really does not exists for new car owners. He blames my husband for not informing me about him allegeddly beeing informed about the rental car issue.He goes further and states that my husband admitted trashing the car.He never even called my husband.

And all of those truth twisting facts are just based on Mr. Grisolias vivid imagination and effort to keep his job.Also he never really apologized for his unprofessionally rude behavior.I wrote again to Ms.Schmeiske the exec. assistant.After not hearing from her I declined my credit card charge because I was given the impression that the Dealership supports this kind of customer mistreatment.Since my last letter from 10/1/2002 to this day 10/25/02 I have not heard anything from the dealership.

This dealership has a shuttle to pick people up at the subway. Their van slowed down but did not stop and I had to call them again. When I finally got there, I had to solicit a sales person. They gave me an 18 year old girl with no experience who knew nothing about the car I was interested in.

I told them I had $500 to hold the car I wanted, and that I would like it returned to me when I gave them the check for the car. They looked at me like I was crazy. Why didn't I just have the check cut for $500 LESS? I told them I didn't want to do that, but they wanted to do things there way, not mind, even though it wouldn't have made a bit of difference. Their sales people were very cold and callous.

I told one of them that I already had financing, but he continually pushed me until I finally said he could tell me what they payment would be at a certain rate. I never gave permission, and in fact thought I made it quite clear that I didn't want them to check my credit. But that's exactly what he did. WITHOUT MY CONSENT. When I found out I was clearly upset and asked his name but he would not tell me his last name. (DAVID GAVIN)

When I wanted to return to the T I had to pace back and forth in front of a group of these guys and finally say something (a second time) so that I could get a ride back to the subway. I am by the way female and I came in alone. They would not listen to how I wanted to do things and just kept looking at me like I had a screw loose. But worse then this treatment was the unauthorized credit check. This is just not acceptable. Thank you.

I was very upset about this experience which was extremely unpleasant bording on traumatic. Unfortunately, this dealership offers the lowest price on the car I was interested in. But after this, I decided not to buy the car so I wouldn't have to deal with them.
