Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I took my 93 Chevy truck to this dealership in July to have a transmission leak repaired. They replaced a gasket on the transmission pan and also replaced a broken support at a cost of $174.00.

Three months later I noticed that the truck was leaking fluid again. I took the truck back to the dealer to have the problem resolved. The service person i dealt with, Chris, insisted that that was no leak. I asked if he would park the truck on a incline over night and check for leaks in the morning.

When I called later the next day He stated the truck sat there all afternoon with no leaks, I asked if anyone had taken the transmission apart to examine the area I pointed out that was leaking.

Chris stated that he had found the problem, that it was not a transmission leak at all, it was a intake manifold gasket, front crank seal, oil pressure sender. All were replaced at a cost of $730.80 on 10-07-99.

The next day the transmission is again leaking on my driveway and I notice the check engine soon light on my dash panel is now on. My wife and I were leaving for a week's vacation, I again took the truck back to the dealership and talked to Tracy the person in charge that the truck was leaking again,

I asked him to bend over and look under the truck to show him the location, He refused and just wrote up his report and stated that I could call Monday to check in. I called Thursday and was told that the truck was parked and watched diligently for the week and no leaks were noted.

I finally got hold of the service manager, Jim, and told him I wanted the truck put up on a lift and the transmission taken apart and the freeze plug examined for leaks, if that was the problem replace it if not put it back together and I would be back in town Sunday afternoon to pick it up.

I called back Saturday and was told the truck was ready, the freeze plug had been replaced, it was not leaking, at no cost.  I picked the truck up Sunday afternoon and drove it home.  It sounded funny so I pulled over and raised the hood. My entire air cleaner assembly was missing.

I drove back to the dealership and asked to speak to the person in charge. Tony who presented himself as one of the owners asked if he could help. I gave him a run down on the facts, figures, the intense frustration that I felt and wanted to know what he could do. Tony apologized, said they ran a five star service center and that he would personally talk to the service manager in the morning.

I said, well how about my truck can you go back to the service dept and get my missing parts? Oh no, he stated, the service area was closed and there are so many lockers and benchs, he just would not know where to look.

I asked if the truck was safe to drive in that condition and he assured that it was but I might not get very good gas mileage. No mention of a rental car , loaner, nothing. My wife lost her composure and made it very plain to everyone who would listen that we wanted satisfaction now and were not leaving.

Tony decided to search the service area and found my missing parts and installed them himself. No further apology or promise to pursue this further.

When I spoke to the Chevrolet Customer Service people yesterday I was told that there was a recall on my truck, the VIN number brought it up -- the sp-pol liner egr needed to be replaced. The same thing that the dealership wanted to replace for $150.00 to address the check the engine soon light problem.

I took my Chevy Blazer in for my 100,000 mile check. Nothing was wrong with the Blazer and I asked for a minor check. They called during the day and said I needed a fuel filter, decarbonize eingine and Throttle Body and flush injectors. I approved the service. They did, among other things, a carbon flush and charged me for the parts and labor. Within two weeks of the service, I began to have trouble starting the Blazer and I smelled gas. I do not drive to work but drive on the weekends and had a visitor from out of town visiting and was unable to return the Blazer to the service department until August 13. They called and said that there was fuel leaking into the intake and that I needed a regulator, carbon flush and cap-rotor, which they again charged me for (the same parts and labor as before). I called them and asked them why they needed to do the carbon flush again and asked what their mechanic did to cause this to happen. I understand that the Blazers have problems with the fuel injection system but I don't believe that it failed on its own. Maybe if it had failed a few months later I could understand, but I believe the mechanic failed to do the job properly the first time, causing the failure soon after the first service. Why would they have to do the carbon flush again??

Consquences....they charged me almost $550 the first time, and $900 to do (in my opinion) the same thing again. They did return the money for the second carbon flush parts and labor, which I demanded. But had I not checked the invoices, I wouldn't have noticed. I could not and cannot afford for them to do damages through bad service repair and have me or any other customer pay for their mistakes. I don't mind paying for the parts but I believe they should reinburse me for the labor costs. Thank you.
