In December 2000 a lady by the name of Michelle called my place of business and asked if we would like to join a group of other business owners to show in the Home and Garden show at the West Town Mall. We agreed for a fee of $639.00 to have a both at the mall. We are in the Mortgage business and this kind of exposure would be good for us.
As the time got near, Mr. Jack Reed calls to say that they were going to call off the home show and would contact us later. In February Michelle called to say that they can let us have a booth at a bridal fair and I told her that would not do us any good, that we were in the mortgage business and she said that was all she could do. I asked Michelle for my money back and she said no, I then had an attorney send a letter to F.P.M., Inc. to try and recoup my money. Mr. Jack Reed said he was not refunding the money.
If we were Jeff, we would contact the Tennessee Attorney General. We would also call the management of West Town Mall and complain loudly. We would also find out when and where the bridal show is and complain to the local press and to whatever location is hosting the bridal show. Jeff could try filing in Small Claims Court. Assuming he wins, he could turn the judgment over to a private collection agency.
