Helio Cellphone

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I joined a month ago, and it was for 3 months. But i do not trust any of these websites, and never use these sites. I didnt want to deal with fraud, so i cancelled my debit card. Why wouldn't people just cancel their bank card and you wouldn't need to deal with this aggravation.

I placed an order and they have the nerve to upgrade the order withoput my concern. they send the package upgraded in a small box and charge two times for shipping and handling. It was their error for sending the order incorrectlyand redfuse to at least honor one of the shipping and handling charges.

I was promised 2, $100 dollard rebates back when I purchased the phone in December of 2007 and never received them. I have a ridiculous amount of dropped calls and I have already had my phone replaced. When I advised customer service that the phone sent was refurbished, she claims that she preferred a refurbished phone. That is her opinion, I feel that if I paid for a new working phone and I have insurance to cover it just in case it gets damaged, I should get what I paid for.

I want Helio to give me the 2 $100 rebates that I was promised and I want them to waive the $175 termination fee because I feel forced to find another cell phone service provider.

I have been with Helio since Dec. 2006 and my bills have always been the same until I added an additional line in Dec. 2007. My monthly bill for both phones was right around $150.00 per month. Before I moved this past summer I contacted Helio and gave them my new address and asked if I would still have good service in the area I was moving too and if my bill would change...... asked if I would be in Roaming. I was told everything would stay the same.

My first bill after moving was double...... OK, I was busy and paid it, next bill was for $314.00 and when I called and talked to Carl I told him you guys are either charging for *free* text messages or for Raoming but there is no way we went over our 1500 minute plan. He said if I paid $175 that day and agreed to up my plan to the 2500 minute plan that he could accept the $175 so even though I argued and told him how unhappy I was for this mess I went ahead and made yet another over payment.

Then, the next bill *HELLO* was for $1,200 I was shocked at first and then I laughed a little because this has to be a joke. Getting ahold of anyone who is willing to help is the real joke! I have talked to so many people at Helio, send SEVERAL emails and not one reply from them and have also sent them a certified letter trying to clear up this mess and still no response. I have a lawyer who works pro-bono for me since my husband passed away and he will now be getting involved. I will be writing anyone I think will listen state, local and federal.

They are attemping to ruin my credit that I have worked real hard to keep and before they shut my phone off kept harrassing me to pay but wouldn't listen or fix their mistake!

Helio was a korean cell phone company that was recently acquired by Virgin Mobile. I have a 2 year contract that ends in Feb 09; 2 months ago I received a letter saying that despite the change in ownership Helio would still operate has Helio and my contract would be honored. I pay $65 a month for 1 phone with unlimited nights, weekends, mobile to mobile and text messages and 500 anytime minutes. Suddenly 2 months ago I went over my minutes by $128 worth; all this overage was for mobile to mobile calls.

After complaining I found out that now my mobile to mobile is only from my Helio phone to others Helio phones. I don't know anybody else with one. Helio claims that that is what my contract always stated but gave me back the overage for the current month and half of the overage for last month; which means I have paid an extra $64 that I would not normally have paid. I also do not have unlimited mobile to mobile; except for other Helio members; anymore.

I am out $64.05 plus I have less service since I cannot call my family members mobile phones as much as I used too. I cannot get out of my contract unless I pay $175 even though they have changed my contract and I am not happy with it. I am stuck with less service than my original contract states until Feb. 09 and I have to be careful when I use my phone because I cannot afford the overages nor the extra $20 a month to add minutes to my service. Also I have been harassed daily by customer services people in some country who do not speak english well trying to get me to agree to upgrading my service.

I activated a phone that I purchased from a third party with Hello assuming that I was only signing up for a service plan. The sales person did not inform me that I was being placed under a 2 year contract. Since I did not purchase the phone directly from Hello, I did not receive any discounts or subsidies. The third party that I purchased the phone from properly terminated the account and paid all termination fees before selling me the phone. No liabilities were transfered to me when I activated the phone with Hello. I consider the disputed contract with Hello, Null and Void, as I was not explicitly informed that the service agreement I signed was in fact a 2 year contract.

I am unable to use my phone.

The company has a 30 day policy, bought phones and set up service on the 1st of October 2006. Cancelled the service 14 days later but the company still sends me bills. I have cancelled over ten times ( I have a couple cancellation no#'s) but I still receive bills! Also told by one CSR that this will affect my credit. But I no longer have the phones nor the service.
