ILD - Credit Card Calls

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I made a credit card call on a pay phone in Pasadena, CA. I was on the phone for approximately 4 minutes. When I received my bank statement, I saw that I was charged $15.68. I'm sure I was overcharged for the call and I see from checking on the internet that this ILD phone company was previously sued for overcharging and for deception, hidden fees etc. I want my money back.

I received my phone bill and upon reviewing it I discovered an addendum bill for the charge of $22.69 including taxes. I was surprised to see that I was charged $8.63 for a one minute call followed by a charge of $9.71 for a two minute call. The first call was to see if anyone was home, the second call was to leave a message to let my wife know where I was on my trip home.
I called the company to complain about the charges but was told that I had used my calling card incorrectly. She explained that there was a number on the back of my card I was to use, when using another providers services, and that her company was charging the rate allowed by law. I did not have my card with me at the time of this call, nor was I forewarned of the rate I would be charged for my call. I feel that this charge borders on theft.

Other than getting angry for being charged for this exorbitant rate, and raising my already too high blood pressure, no harm was done. However, I feel a company that exists only to charge excessive rates for minimal service, should be subject to a fine. Let them know how it feels to pay for something I'm sure they would feel is unfair.
