Antivirus Pro 2010

My daughter had an icon in lower right tray "a balloon" she clicked it and said your computer was infected with a virus! Do you want to remove it now! She clicked yes, and websiet popped up asking to pay $49.00 for AV software. She closed window and a webite www.*****.com popped up with **** pictures of sexual content. Then when she informed me I tried to delete or remove the software or icon and everyfile was indicating that its infected. Called McAfee to report, they helped some to delete it but it returned up reboot. Found Virus info on McAfee website but hard to remove.

Each reboot seems to start a xxxguard.exe file up in process's and I delete everything in %temp% directory and run a full scan. Reboot same problem. This is real bad. @ other pc's in house do not have this problem, all run same McAfee sw version and are up dated. McAfee gaurantees that they protect your system. They also said afdter 1st try that it was fixed. It is not fixed.

I have a similar problem to Alcides and I'm sure many of us has had similar encounters and would like to know the name of free program as well. If he could share, it wouldd be greatly appreciated.

This program loaded onto my computer and it was very difficult to remove. It provides false virus alerts and then wanted money to register the product. I was fortunate to locate a free program to remove Antivirus Pro 2010, but it was very frustrating to go through the trouble to remove. It is very disappointing that a company or person would force itself onto a computer and then extort money from the person. I truly hope someone in Consumer Affairs is looking into this company and stopping them."

A virus software invaded my pc called Anti Virus 2010. It froze my entire system, all but where it wanted me to go. It connected its virus program to my pc to make it look as if it was part of my anti virus program. This program announced my pc had a virus and my computer was going to crash. Then a screen popped up to remove it. I clicked. It took me to a pay $40 SITE. In all of my panic I paid.

I downloaded the program and nothing! It is a hoax. I contacted them via email. They sent me a generic reply. I emailed them and told them I was turning them in, I called my bank who is crediting my account. I called all of the credit report companies to alert them I had a fraudulant error.

In the process of paying, they have all of my information including the last 4 digits of my social. My bad!! The result could be identiy theif. I had to close my credit card that I used also and now need to contact all of my creditors to let them know I need new card numbers.
