On 4/12/2001 I went online to buy a computer from Compaq. I proceeded through my order and found a brand new computer system and other products for a price of $132.42. The following day Compaq took my credit card number and verified that the order would be sent 2 weeks later. On the day before the order was to ship, I got a call from Compaq saying my order was cancelled. They said there was an error in their online order system. They then told me that they charged my credit card for part of the order. When I got my credit card statement they had charged my credit card $168. This amount is more than the orginal order price. I was sent 1 item of the order and not the complete order. I feel I have been a victim of fraud.
Damage ResultingI was charged approximately $36 more than authorized on my credit card and only 1 item of my order ever came, even though the company had said my order was cancelled. I was taking part of a discount offer from Compaq through my employer, the United States Postal Service. I feel that the company took advantage of me by using my credit card for an amount it wasn't authorized and that the merchandize I ordered online never arrived,
