Edgemicro advertised the Phillips 8x4x31x CDRW for $99.00. I ordered it and got a generic brand instead. I contacted them immediately and was told it was a typo and that based upon their policy, I was out of luck.
Even though their typo consisted of a typo photo, a typo product number, a type name, a typo description and a typo invoice, it wasn't their fault. I have attached their response to the bottom of this email, so that you can see what their idea of customer service is. I am an attorney and generally pretty hard headed so I wrote them an e-mail detailing how I was going to proceed when I filed suit.
Within an hour of my e-mail I recieved a response offering an RMA number. I may get my money back, but I still didn't get the deal that was offered. I wonder how many people are going to be stuck with products they didn't want. I still want my Phillips CDRW...
1st response...
Dear Sir, I show that it must have been a typographical error, which if you notice in our policies we arent responsible for. It has been noted and fixed on our website. The software that yours came with is Hotburn, which works just as good. I apologize for the inconvience and thank you for your time!
2nd response... Dear Sir, Thank you for your input. Have a great day!
There's a lot of this going around in cyberville. It doesn't really matter what mealy-mouthed verbiage may appear on the site, truth-in-advertising statutes require that a vendor who advertises a product at a specific price must sell it at that price. Period.
