Consumer Complaints & Reviews

Banner ad with fake testimonials appeared on the american lung assn. home page for cheap introductory offers with no commitment of teeth whitening products. The next week Chase bank credit card fraud dept. called and asked me to verify two charges of small ammount (2 and 3 dollars). I was told that there were several complaints about these companies, so I told the representative not to allow any further charges from these companies. The next month 6 charges totalling approximately 300 dollars of charges showed up from these and other company names I had never heard of.

I disputed the charges and was told by Chase bank that these were for "memberships" that I had supposedly signed up for under a negative option marketing scheme. Chase bank called me several times trying to get me on the phone with these "merchants" and received recorded messages or number not in service. Only once did someone answer and then tried to get personal information from me before speaking about anything. I never received any products or services from these companies, though I did receive 2 small envelopes from PO box return addresses which I returned to sender.

I was looking on the Suzie Orman website for high interest banks and found this article on how this house wife found these two products that whiten your teeth really well. All you have to do is get these samples for $1.95 shipping and handling. They get your credit card number for the "shipping charge" and in small print if you do not cancel within 14 days they automatically ship and charge you for $87.00 and other fees as well. Before you know it, they are charging you hundreds of dollars!
