I just received a "Failed Appointments" in the mail releasing me from the practice of this extremely unprofessional and unfriendly practice. We ALL know how ridiculously expensive ANY dental work is, and the LOADS of dentists that we can choose from. Well it is my hopes that you do NOT spend your money here.
I was referred by my dentist for severe gum problems. I was scheduled for a gum cleaning (never referred as surgery to me) on July 8th. In light of recent economic times and dealing with severe downsizing of my job, this appointment that was made almost 2 months in advance was overlooked by me. I was at work scribing with doctors and with a patient when our receptionist knocked on the door and told me that it was Dr . Hollisters office on the phone I was scheduled for surgery today and I was late.
I'm sorry but isn't this a violation of HIPPA. How is it that you can call the job of a patient and rudely explain (in your frustration) that they are scheduled for a SURGERY and that they are LATE to whomever answers the phone?
I of course immediately was upset, I called the office to whom I spoke to an older woman in the SLO office who acted as if i just woke up that morning with a personal vendetta against her and the practice. I must have apologized 5 or more times and let her know of my circumstances I was sorry... again i was sorry.... She explained to me that it was a HUGE inconvenience and that it was SURGERY that was scheduled and on and on.
Again I apologized and asked her why it was that I an emergency contact wasn't contacted and why she gave out personal information about my appointment. She side stepped all of the questions, again informing me that I MISSED my appointment and they were unable to verify on a phone message the day prior. And she never apologized or acknowledge the fact that she stepped out of line.
Good grief am I the only patient ever to have skipped an appointment? I know at our practice this is common and we send postcards, email, call in advance, and CERTAINLY WOULD NEVER make someone feel like they were NOT welcome at the practice because of it.
I had to reschedule twice again giving the proper 24 hr notice that it politely ASKS you to give on their appointment card. The other time I was sick , however called as soon as I could @ 5:00 or 6:00 in the a.m and left a message to cancel.
Must be nice to be so unprofessional, vent your frustrations, violate HIPPA laws and get away with it, all while releasing your "problem children patients" that aren't brining you any money. Oh well right... Dr. Hollister's office doesn't care if I loose all my teeth or I am suffering from any kind of health problems due to my teeth/gum issues. I'm sure that if I were a star patient with tons of money and a great insurance policy with plans of $20,000 worth of dental implants I wouldn't have been let go so easily. How sad that we live in this society that healthcare=money and if you've got the money it will talk for you... period.
I'll tell you all the while working in this medical field which is over 8 yrs- I have seen one person get let go from a practice and that is because she was repeatedly rude and cussing and yelling at our staff. Let go because of a mishap and reschedule... wow, good luck dealing with this office. Better make sure you know your schedule real good.. better take good care that you don't get sick or have an emergency. And if you need to reschedule that you give them a month in advance.
And if you do schedule with Dr. Hollisters office make sure you understand that if you violate any of THOSE rules , they'll hunt you down call your place of employment or wherever they can get ahold of you and tell anyone who will listen what your business is with them and what your NOT doing.
HIPPA violation. Failure to understand a patients welfare and/or extenuating circumstances. Rude and unwelcoming. Who wants to get painful procedure done at an office that is already upset with you?! Feeling threatened by the office staff, reluctant to come in after initial confrontation.
