Learning Resources of America was advertising through my son's preschool an educational system for preschoolers called Smart Kid. This system includes learning materials and a "Kidsultant " who is a Master degreed early childhood educator to provide regular follow up consultation.
We made an appointment with "Mike" to come to our home for a presentation.
When we decided to purchase this system, Mike was going to give us an addition $100 off the price if we gave him a check. My husband told Mike we would finance because we weren't just going to hand over a check to someone we didnt know.
We financed $1,350 through Norwest Financial. We started receiving the learning materials in the mail and UPS.
We did receive one visit from a "Sandy" who was supposed to be my "Kidsultant." She brought the set of The New Book of Knowledge and said we would hear from her every week. It took about two months to receive all the material and at that time we paid off the financing.
We never heard from the company again.
I have left numerous phone messages and they have never been returned. The purchase was made 6-23-98.
I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau but they say their correspondence was returned.
We paid $1,350 and received materials probably worth $400 to $500. We are very upset that these people are preying on preschoolers and their parents.
That man stood in my living room going on about how good they were and how much they really cared about children and took our money. They can have their materials back -- I want my money back or shut their company down.
