Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I had AHS for about seven years--from 1998 to 2005. I had a break from AHS service for about three years. I renewed my contract in 2008. My heater stopped working two weeks ago. I called AHS and they sent a company out to look at it. The heater company reported back to AHS that the heater was improperly repaired, charged me $60.00 and left. AHS said that they would not repair it. I told AHS that the heater was replaced by them about six or seven years ago. I have not had the heater worked on since then. It was working fine up until two weeks ago. They denied my repair request. I complained to them and they sent another technician out. He came to the same conclusion. AHS refused the repair again.

AHS stated that they had no records of me getting service from them before. I don't know anything about heating and air conditioning and have never touched my unit. This company is not very good anymore. They seem to be looking for excuses to not honor their warranty contract. That tells me that they have problems. I have been without heat for almost a month. In Houston, Texas where I live, we have had the coldest weather I have ever experienced. In the 20's at night, I can't get warm. I have a gas fireplace and have been forced to run it nonstop. It costs about $700.00 a month on my gas bill. My wife has a bad cold that she can't seem to get rid of.

I have held my policy with American Home Shield (AHS) for about 8 years that provides for repair or replacement of my heating/AC units. In 2002 AHS sent Triple S to repair the unit that was not performing correctly. Triple S reworked some electrical lines on the outside unit to replace the contactor with a non-complying contactor because they did not have a factory replacement. This fixed the cooling problem but caused a heating problem.

Several other calls were made to AHS about the heating problem. They again sent Triple S and on their last call I was told that the problem could not be cured and I would just have to live with it!

I called AHS and asked for another service company to look at the problem. AHS sent Ambient Air on 1-19-2007. The technician found the problem to be in the wiring done by Triple S, which prevented the heat strips from working. When Ambient called for approval from AHS to perform the work, it was denied!

My boyfriend and I are building a house through Gary Slagle contractors and were persuaded to pick out our cabinets and flooring through American Home Interiors.

We were treated rudely, mis-informed and not give proper and professional advice or guidance, now our kitchen looks awful in a brand new home. When I tried to speak with them, they turned it into an all out fight and are unwilling to work with us, they said "you signed off on it, now its your problem." Well the paper we "signed off" on, was for the style and color of the cabinets.

I explained numerous times the model numbers and dimensions of appliances I was was purchasing from Sears, and if there was going to be a problem, I should have been informed at that time. Now I have a kitchen that looks mis-matched and they will take none of the blame or work with us. The builder gave them the money and now they act as if they have no idea who we are.

I feel that I went to a place of business, and was advised that a "designer" would be helping us. But that is the exact opposite of what I received. When Kim got the models numbers of the appliances, and saw that they would not fit properly, she should have advised me at that time that we may need to make some adjustments with the cabinets, especially since we purchased GE Profile Stainless steel appliances, that were not cheap.
