Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I made a down payment on the furniture. I decided I didn't want it. I tried to get my money back, but they wouldn't give it back. I have tried several times. They kept making excuses.

The store sold me damaged and cheap furniture, and I am paying the bank back for this damaged furniture, which is not right. They don't want to exchange the damaged items. The wood is damaged (bedroom set). Bed is refurbished.

In June 2006, I purchased a bedroom set from this furniture store. Upon delivery the Mirror attached to the dresser was broken, two of the dresser drawers on the 5 dresser drawer are broken. Therefore, everytime i go in the drawer i have to hold it from falling on my feet and on the dresser with the mirror the board is hanging down from the drawer. Upon delivery i told the delivery guys i was not going to except this, its broken. He said it was nothing he could do and that i had to call the store to speak with the owner.

When i called and spoke with the owner, Ore. He was very arrogant, and said "i will send one of my guys to come out and look at the bedroom set". I told him that is unacceptable and i want a replacement". He said, that was the only he could do. He would send someone out that following week. The following week came, i took the day off without pay and know one showed up. I constantly called to see whats going on and he insist on being arrogant. I should've know something was wrong. When i first went to the store, they grant those without bad credit, a job, 3 recent pay stubs and put you on a payment plan.

After the credit is granted, Universal Furniture tell you that Captial Discount (company that approve the credit) are going to call me and when they do, just tell them you received the furniture. Because i thought it was wrong and a lie, when captial discount called unfortunatedly i was available anyway, i wasn't going to do no such thing. Although, the credit and furniture was granted june 2006, therefore i was placed on a 24 month payment plan, that was to be paid by June 2008. Because of the defective bedroom set and no replacement after two months of payments i stop paying on the bedroom set. Eventually they garnished my pay check and in February 2008.

In November 2007, i placed a complaint with you guys "consumer affairs and the BBB". Until today, I haven't heard anything back from you guys. But the BBB, did respond, although the only thing Universal Furniture is willing to do is come look at the bedroom set and stating because my warranty is up, they will not replace the bedroom set or refund my money because the warranty expired. I put in this complaint way before the warranty expired and I know that I'm entitle to my money back or a new set. This not acceptable and its wrong!

The young lady Ta-reemea Scott, who told me about them also had a problem and several disputes with this Furniture store. Please help me rectify this situation A.S.A.P! Thanking you in advance. the 5 dresser drawer two of the drawers are broken I have to hold it to keep from falling on my feet which almost occurred on several occassions. the mirror attached to the dresser in dropped down (broken). the board underneath the same dresser is hanging down. I'm afraid the drawer is going to fall on my feet.

In june 2006, i purchased a bedroom set from them and it was delivered with a broken mirror, two drawers broken on the dresser and part of the drawer is dragging on the floor. The set was to paid up with a total of 24 payments. The bedroom set was officially paid off in March 2008. That's what happened I've contacted consumer affairs twice in November 2007 and March 2008. Please look into this matter ASAP!
