On June 30, 2009, I ordered my "free trial" of Power Colon Cleanse, which required only a payment of $5.95 for shipping (from China I learned when I received it). My credit card was charged the $5.95, but then on July 16, 2009, I was charged an additional $79.95 for my "membership" and was advised I would be charged this amount plus shipping every month. I was livid! There was absolutely no indication in the ad that any further charges would be automatically billed to my account monthly.
I immediately got on the phone and spoke to someone on July 31 (at 11:10 a.m.) and got them to cancel this so-called membership, which they did. They also told me I could be refunded $40 for the order I had received, rather than go through the "hassle" of doing a return of the product. I said--Great.
This was in July and it is now almost November and I have yet to see this $40 refund. I have email after email to a different person each time who responds to my emails. I have told them they are scammers (which I guess they already know) and that I will be reporting them to a Federal Consumer Protection Service.
I came upon this Consumer website by accident and was not really surprised by the number of people in the same boat who also have been taken by these scam artists. They need to be stopped and put in jail for fraud. The economic damage is the $40 I have not received along with the priceless number of hours I have communicated with these people in an attempt to get my money back. The physical damage is the frustration and annoyance of having been deceived by someone who presented themselves as ligitimate.
