Consumer Complaints & Reviews

A complaint was filed against Accurate Mechanical in December of 2009. Turns out there was a misunderstanding which was resolved by Accurate Mechanical. All deposits were returned. Once the money was returned, there were no consequences.

My son and I were soliciting bids for upgrade of my heating and air conditioning. Multiple contractors were contacted including Accurate Mechanical. Mike, from Accurate mechanical, indicatd that he would only provide an evaluation after we solicited two other bids. We got the two bids and mike showed up. He checked out the house and later provided an installation proposal which was higher than the rest. However Mike indicated that the house could qualify for a 50% rebate from the N.J. Go Green program. He even worked out the numbers showing that although his fee was $8500 that the ultimate cost to me would be less than $3000. He provided a contracted which indicated that a 5% to 50% rebate could be achieved after an energy efficiency check was done. He also indicated that we could easily achieve the 25% savings because a computer model was run indicating a maximum of 47% could be saved.

Mike then provided a contract where I gave him a 10% down payment. In a few days the efficiency check was done at a cost of $300.00 but the story started to change at this point. The person doing the check indicated that it would be very difficult to achieve 25% efficiency improvement. When questioned about the fact that Mike promised 47%, she indicated that was a mistake because an incorrect model was used. A week or so later another proposal was received from Bright Alternatives (The energy efficiency organization) which listed the $8500 from Accurat Mechanical's contract plus over $10,000 in insulation and sealing (Performed by Bright Alternatives). This insulation and sealing was necessary to achieve a 28% heat load reduction to qualify for the 50% rebate. Cost to me would be over $9000.00 and an enormous amount of additional work would have to be done. In addition, the contract presented by Accurate Mechanical was fraudulant. To qualify for the rebate the contractor performing the work must be BPI certified and Accurate Mechanical is not certified. The only way to receive the rebate is for me to sign a contract with Bright Alternatives naming Accurate Mechanical as a sub-contractor and that was not the case.
