Aug 6th, 2009: Jaime of Applewood cleaned my sewer line of roots. He charged $319 (higher than I'd paid others before). He ran a camera for free (I didn't ask for that). He showed me that water was exiting the sewer where the cast iron pipe meets the clay pipe (2 or 3 feet from the house). He also showed me two minor offsets further down the line. He said he wasn't worried about the offsets but about the gap in the sewer so close to the foundation. He quoted $5837.50 to fix it. He quoted $7487.50 to replace the whole line to the sidewalk.

So I got 3 other quotes. All cheaper. One with a company recommended by my neighbor. I asked that company to fix the gap in the sewer. They charged $1230. HOWEVER, when they dug my yard and looked at the sewer connection between cast iron and clay, they found no problem! This was Sep 11th, 2009, and this guy said he would testify if I needed him to.

I talked to Anna of Applewood (Jaime's supervisor). I asked for a copy of the video that Jaime showed me. She said I would have to pay for it. Next time I talked to her she still said that she would locate the video. But then she called and said that Jaime's recording equipment had malfunctioned, so they had no video of my sewer line.

So I hired an independent camera company to show me what my sewer line looked like. Turns out it looks different from what Jaime showed me. I didn't see the two offsets, while I did see other characteristics that Jaime's video didn't show.

Since Anna was covering for Jaime instead of investigating my allegations, I sent a letter to John Ward, owner of Applewood, on Oct 16th, 2009. I haven't heard back. Early on I filed a complaint with the BBB of Denver and they said this was not within their purview (really?!) I sent an email to Tom Martino (consumer advocate?) and haven't heard back.
