Bilt-Safe

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I have an electric ultra plush blanket made by Beautyrest Bilt-Safe. The blanket has got so hot that it burns your skin and even melted a remote control that was under the blanket! I have stopped using the blanket in fear that it will catch fire! I called the company and they are out of business. I looked online and it seems as though the company went out of business after a major recall of thousands of blankets that caught fire, resulted in injury and even death! It seems unfair that I have to throw it away and not even be entitled to a new one at the very least.

There was a recall on my electric blanket that I just recently found out about (Beautyrest BST-06-THR). I am very upset because I have been using this blanket, but recently it has been getting too hot and now it doesn't work. The only reason I found out about the recall is because I looked online to see if my blanket could be replaced or fixed. Now I have been trying to get in touch with someone which seems impossible. I would really appreciate if something could be done, I am very discouraged and cannot afford to buy another heating blanket at this time (which I slept with every night, not knowing it was dangerous!) Please help me out and let me know if anything can be done.

Electric blanket contoller melted partially while in use. While I have found other models of Bilt-safe blankets listed in recalls, I did not find this model. It is model # BST-CONT-07-CD-F. It was purchased in the fall of 2008 and received by my daughter as a Christmas gift in the same year. It is now March 5, 2009.

The case of the controller melted partially, warping the back of the case. The controller and the blanket no longer work.
