Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I needed a new poolcleaner.Rang Classic pool & Spas. Adam /Alan he goes by either or name apparently, came around with a DEMO MODEL, which he left in pool for afew days to make sure it was the right cleaner for my pool, which is a tyled pool. It was working perfectly. So I brought the cleaner, which is called a Stingray automatic pool cleaner, with two year warrenty. I paid 500 hundred dollars for the cleaner. It worked for afew days and it kept getting stuck. I rang Adam and he came out and fiddled with it , worked while he was here for awhile, stayed about 5 mins and left. I brought the cleaner on 29th jan 2008. I have had Adam back on about 5 times, he also brought out the company sales rep to look at it, who are Poolrite equipment.

The rep fiddled

w ith it and told me it is my equipment and that it was old and to replace, Which would cost me another Two thousand dollars. I told her and adam that the demo model worked perfectly, they did not coment. So I go to another pool company and get them to check it out. I eplained my story to the sales rep, she looked up the model in her book and she said it says that it does not work in tyled pools, so she rang poolrite whilst I was there, they told her it does over the phone. So I get her guys to come out and have alook. They spent one and a half hours on this to get it going, they got it going. I asked them if it had anything to do with the equipment they told me no.I paid $160 dollars for this call out fee. After one week the cleaner, did not work. I was really fed up.

So I ran poolrite, direct because Classic pools had said to take it up with them he was not interested. I rang poolrite and spoke to the rep who came out, she was rather rude to me. I told her that I had to spend another $160 on getting it going. She put me on to the manager who was just as rude and did not want to know. I asked for them to pay for the bill of $ 160 and flatly refused. So I ring Classic pools again, this has been going on for 6 mths by the way. I tell him that I want my $ 500 dollars back and he can have the cleaner back. He refuses to do this. This product has a two year warranty.I have tried everything, the cleaner vibrates in the same spot, if you pull it , it moves for a short time, 2to 5 mins maybe and gets stuck again, it is useless. I just want my money back Thank you.

In the Spring/Summer of 2003, my husband and I purchased a pool from Classic Pools. We paid $3,700.00 plus for a 21 round 52 inch pool. The first season using the pool my husband had noticed that the water level was going down below the skimmer and continued to lose water. Never being a pool owner my husband and I called Classic Pools and Lucille informed us that it was natural for this to happen as the water evaporated and with the kids splashing in the pool this was perfectly ok.

Upon opening the pool the next season the water level dropped considerably. Again called Classic pools and she said that the liner was only warranteed for one year and perhaps we should have a diver come to inspect the pool to check for any holes in the liner. I did not have the $500 she wanted for the diver and so we kept filling our pool with water in hopes it was caused from the kids splashing.

During the course of the winter months, my husband and I noticed now the water in the pool is halfway gone. Upon opening the pool there is now no water what so ever. We called Classic Pools and again Lucille said that she would charge us 1,300 plus to have a new liner installed and so we called another company to come and take a look. This company informed us that the liner of the pool was approximately 8 years old. I said no way as the pool is only 3 years old. He informed me that the design of the liner is an old design which came out approximately 8 years ago. How can she sell me a new pool with an old liner? Now it will cost me $200 and change for a new liner, $500 for installation and $250 for a tank of water. Is that fair? I don't know if I have a case, we have tried to talk to Lucille but she is one nasty woman and it's her final say. It's amazing how people like that can get away ripping off people. I usually do checking prior to making such a large purchase and this time I didn't. I wish I had as I see there are other people out there who were burned by her actions.

The company responds

YOU HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS ABOUT CLASSIC POOLS. ONE WAS SETTLED IN SEPTEMBER 12- 2000.
THE SECOND COMPLAINT IS FROM SOME "NANCY" WHO WE DO NOT KNOW BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT- GIVE HER LAST NAME,SHE ALSO HAS SEVERAL STATEMENTS THAT ARE NOT TRUE.
IF YOU AND NANCY READ THE CONTRACT YOU WOULD SEE IT SAYS THAT THE LINER WARRANTY=

IS BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT'S WHO 'NANCY' SHOULD BE COMPLAINING TO.

THANK YOU. CLASSIC POOL.

We purchased an above ground 24' round pool on May 30th, 2000. It was installed by Classic Pools (who told us all work was done by them and complaints should go to them). Actually they hired outside contractors with whom we never signed a contract. The pool was installed on June 27th. After having to pay $500 more than original contract for installation because they could not get a truck in the yard, (which by the way they never asked us)They installers left and we proceeded to fill up the pool with water.

On the morning of June 28th we noticed the water level had gone down approximately 5 inches. On closer inspection we saw a hole in the bottom and the sand underneath the pool and caved in. We called the company and they said a diver would come and patch the hole temporarily until it could be fixed. We waited until about 2pm that afternoon for someone to come. Meanwhile around the pool is getting extremely muddy and the water level is down 7t inches.

We went and got a patch kit from Classic and patched it ourselves. Classic said they would still send the diver and the installer to inspect the hole. Both men said the manufacturerer covers rips in the seams but holes are another story. They reported back to Lucille who said she will call the manufacturer and see what they say. We have proceeded to call her almost daily. She is giving us the runaround and after her initial rudeness is now telling us she will get back to us by the end of the day. Which never happens.

We had never swam in this pool. Never put a ladder in this pool and didn't even get to turn the filter on yet. There's is no way we could have put this hole in the pool. We are assuming it was the installer but are not sure it wasn't in the line to begin with. We have just recently Monday July 10th sent Lucille a demand letter stating we want the pool and sand repaired by August 5th or a refund in the amount of $850 to cover the cost of a new liner and installation plus sand work. We sent the letter certified mail with return reciept of which we received the next day and it was signed by Lucille but have not heard anything from her.

This whole pool situation has been a nightmare. We were so happy to be getting a new pool but constantly battling with this woman trying to resolve this has been horrendous.
