I purchased an air-conditioning unit from Michal Watkins (Efficiency Experts) in June 2007. He told me that it's company stood behind their work and would be out every six months to check out our unit and replace filters. At that 6 month point they never showed up. We had to call them, and then it took months to get someone out. They always showed up after dark and tried to look at and repair the unit at night.
The unit is less than 3 years old and has been repaired five times for faulty parts. The unit has dents in it. The air-conditioning repair person that did the repairs, noticed that there was a 5K heat strip in the unit--there was suppose to be a 10K installed. We called the Nordyne Company, who have been very helpful and supportive, and they told us that Efficiency had issued a work form for a replacement part and had been paid and we never had that part replaced. Basically from talking to Nordyne, it sounded as if he was using Nordyne to get money out of them.
The copper tubing in the unit was touching each other (something they should have noticed) and the tubing burned out because of this. The unit was not leveled correctly and water seeps back into the unit. We've had the heater unit replaced, the copper tubing repaired, the defrost board had to to be replaced, and now our blower motor is out. We've spent over $800 on the unit and that does not include the price of the blower motor.
There has been no support from Efficiency Experts. The Nordyne Company has been very helpful, though. The CEO has taken our calls and been very helpful. We do not hold Nordyne responsible for a company that misrepresented their product. It is just so disheartening to buy a new unit and have so many problems. We live in central Florida and the inside of our house is now 92 degrees. Efficiency Experts is now out of business, as they should be. This air conditioner has just caused us so much hassle.
