Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I ordered $3200 of appliances from store manager Frank Rojas and 7 weeks later did not receive delivery. I called Frank 6 times (yes really!) to inquire about my order, and he did not return 1 call. When I returned to the store to get a refund, they said it would take 72 hours to process.

I ordered two Jen-Air conventional Coil units on 11/16/10. After a week of being unable to track delivery, I called their customer service and was told they weren't expected to ship until 10/14/10. I need them, so I ordered two units from another dealer. When I called Universal to cancel my order, I was told rather gruffly that they were charging me a 25% restocking fee. I feel it was Universal's obligation to let me know the units were not in stock and not my obligation to pay them a fee.

We had a Frigidaire Affinity 7000 washer that was less than three years old. After the water pump went out three times and repairs on the now out of warranty washer were greater than the value of the unit, we replaced it with a Frigidaire Affinity FAFW3517KA, which was the only model that was compatible with our working Frigidaire Affinity 7000 dryer. The new washer was delivered on July 9, 2010. We had problems with it on the first day. It began to leak on the third load we washed and it continues to do so.

In addition, something in the drum is catching on our clothes and making holes in them. Universal Appliances sent a service technician who, at first, argued with me that nothing was wrong with the washer. After the second load, he saw the puddle on the floor. He tried to adjust the door and found that he could not make the leak to stop. The technician told us that he would order a new seal and locking assembly and come back to service the machine in "a week or two." That was in the beginning of July and we have not heard from either the technician, the service manager or the sales manager since then.

I called several times and spoke with the service department. I was assured that the parts that were on order would be arriving soon. Apparently, they have not arrived yet because no one has called us to schedule a service appointment. I can't even express our disappointment--not only in the washing machine--but also in Universal Appliance's lack of concern about it. This washer has been a problem since the day it was installed. Since Universal seems unable to repair it, we would like them to replace it. And just to add insult to injury, the dryer is now malfunctioning. It often stops mid-cycle and pops the door open.

They sold us a refrigerator on January 25, 2010 and charged our card the same day $16,842.01. To this day, we still have no refrigerator. We have been promised delivery every Thursday and today I was told that there was a back order and they hope to have it in their stock on Wednesday, but no promise of delivery. We were told delivery would be in 4 weeks from purchase. Our Kitchen is still missing the hood, which we also paid in full and they can't tell us when we will get it. And no refrigerator. We would like a full refund as we have no faith in these people.
