Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I was referred by my doctor to Anaheim Memorial Hospital for exploratory tests. The Hospital is very modern with all the latest equipment. The doctors are excellent. However, the nursing staff, with 2 exceptions, were unbelievably inept and careless. Several times I had to tell them that they were contradicting my primary physician's orders and to recheck my file.

Last at the end of the meal distribution my food was always cold and inedible.

Since I was directly opposite the nurses station and because they spoke in almost a shout due to the general noise, I couldn't avoid hearing their conversation. My name was mentioned. Nurse Jenet ? told nurses how much she hated me and told me several times, personally that she wished I was going home. She made my life as difficult as possible. The final straw came when on going to the vending machine I discovered that all my paper money had been stolen - none of the loose coins were taken nor were my ID or credit.

I was irate and discharged myself from the hospital!

Later, at home, I re-arranged the cards in my wallet and was about to throw away what I thought was just a piece of paper was, in fact, a group of postage stamps (of a kind I had never seen before) to cover the cost of the missing money. So, actually, the thief must have had a conscience!

I guess it seems trivial, but not being able to eat or sleep for 3 days after undergoing surgery did not help my condition (my doctor suspects I have cancer of the liver.

On December 9, 2001 my adult daughter, Deanna, jumped out of her second floor apartment window. Paramedic were called and they iced and elevated her feet (she landed on pavement on her feet). She was taken to Anaheim Memorial Hospital. She spent 4 days in the hospital without her feet being elevated or iced. The attending doctor told me that was not a thing he could do for her because the heals of her feet were crushed. She also suffered a break in her back and the attenting comment to me was that he hadn't seen that in the xray or at least didn't notice.

I took her (Deanna's) xrays to our podiatrists in Torrance California. They wanted to see her immediately because the attending doctor simply told me to take her home because nothing could be done for her. The two podiatrists in Torrance put Deanna in the hopital (Torrance Memorial) right away. Her feet were very very swollen and had large blood blisters on them. They needed to operate on her feet but because her feet had not been elevated nor iced the swelling and blood bisters that formed presented a high risk of infection. However, they had a 2 to 3 week window to help her before it was too late.

Ulimately they had to operated. She get an infection and lost part of the bone in one foot. Todate that foot has not completely healed and she is going to have an operation on Januray 23rd. It has been a long horrible ordeal for Deanna. She just recently was able to walk with braces. She continues to have serious problems with her feet. One of the doctor's in Torrance complained to Anaheim Memorial about their lack of care for Deanna for the time she was there.

Todate Deanna can only walk for about one hour with braces. Her feet are deformed and she still has to take pain medication. On December 21. 2003 she was finally able to give up her wheel chair. However, she may need a wheel chair again after her next operation to clean up her foot and remove the pins and screws that are not exposed. Originally (at the time of the accident) I was told to wait to contact the hospital about any kind of law suit because they (hospital) might try to settle before the long term effects to Deanna was known.
