In July my doctor asked me to have some blood work done. He told me to go Lab Corp. I went to the Building where Lab Corp is located and not finding them I did find Memorial Care.

I asked the the nurse if she knew where Lab Corp was located. She asked me what I needed done, I told her blood work, showed her my doctors request, and she told me she could do the work there. They were a lab for Saddleback Hospital.

My insurance had just been changed to Blue Cross / Blue Shield of Florida. I asked her if she accepted this insurance and was told yes. Nothing was said if they were in or out of network. I had the blood work done. I found out later Lab Corp was located one floor below Memorial Care

A month later I received a bill $149.69 from Memorial Care. I called my isurance and found out that Memorial Care is not part of my insurance company network and only $35.60 of $185.29 was paid and the balance I needed to pay. They also told me if I would have used Lab Corp the whole they would have paid the entire bill.My insurance company told me I would have to settle with Memorial Care.

I visited the lab and asked them what they could do but received no help. I tried contacting Memorial Care a few messages were left back and forth as I tried to reach. I finally talked to a lady named Star. I explained the situation, and because of all the confusion I was willing to pay half the bill. She told me she could not do anything but would take it up with her supervisor. I never heard back.

Today Dec 11 I was contacted by a collection agency. After telling them the full story, they could do nothing and threatened to record this against my credit.

I called Memorial Care talked to a supervisor named Kyle, told him the whole story and offered to pay half. He said there was nothing he could do, I should checked to see if they were in network, and if I didn't pay it would go against my credit record.

I paid the bill and requested a letter that this does not show on my credit.

If their nurse at the Lab would have told me the location of Lab Corp or given me the proper information about the insurance none of this woiuld have happened.

Memorial Care should have accepted my offer as Goodwill because of the error made by their employee.
