On April 14, 2009 I took my mother to the emergency room of the hospital because she was becoming septic from an infection. It appears that the hospital is cutting staff so much that the health of patients is becoming a concern. We waited 2 hours and only her blood pressure was taken.
I found out the next day that the hospital did in fact have beds, but since they have laid off so much staff, they did not want to anyone back to work. The care of the patients areat risk, the emergency room is always overflowing, and people were allowed in the waiting with bloody noses because the staff couldn't take care of the patients they had in the emergency bays. Someone needs to look in the situation before someone dies.
Because of the excessive delay - I had to take my mother back home, and the next day I had to take her to a hospital 20 miles away from her home. This resulted in missing 2 days work to take her to the hospital, and bring her home, and driving 20 miles in each direction for 7 days causing a serious financial hardship on me to help take care of her. My mother had to be in an environment that was not familiar to her causing her distress, luckily the other hospital has sufficient staff to take care of her get her well. However, on the day she was being release a second patient from Swedish Covenant Hospital was admitted to this hospital 20 miles away - this truly concern me - was this a coincidence or is there a serious problem that needs to be address?
