Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I had late charges that are supposed to be $10.00 per day and am being charged $10.10 per day. When I asked that those be reviewed, another $150.00 in late fees appeared on my account. The manager avoids speaking with you about anything that may require her admitting fault. I filed Chapter 7 and she still attempted to evict me—refusing to accept my rent. Even after I let her know that she cannot obtain a judgment just days after I file a BK, she still advised that it will still go to court. The court did not order a judgment due to the BK filing.

While under the 30 day stay afforded by the BK filing, the manager left me a message stating she was going to have the constable come out and serve a writ of eviction. She didn't even know there was no judgment. I tried to resolve my inflated late fee issue with the regional manager and the phone tag is ongoing. No one in the office can help but the manager—according to the other leasing agents. The manager doesn't return calls and apparently doesn't work many hours because I can't catch her there. The blatant disregard for my rental contract (larger late fees and inflated amount of fees) and federal law has me disgusted that this little girl (the manager) gets her jollies off of playing power games but doesn't have the gray matter to support it.

Alliance, the property management company, apparently can't or won't train their employees. Who knows, maybe someone is "skimming off the top." I'm incurring inaccurate late fees that are pricing me out of paying my rent. I'm running out of time on my stay from the BK court. I'm going to end up homeless, and if by some miracle, I and the regional manager are able to finally connect and she possibly works things out where I will be allowed to pay my rent. I'm going to be out with more money than I should have been to begin with, resulting in lack of money to feed the kids and keep the lights on. I'm basically a basket case at this point, knowing that I'm at the mercy of some bubble head with an agenda.

In August of 2009, I signed a 6 month lease with Broadstone Desert Horizons. In September, I was laid off and had to leave the state to find work. I tried to negotiate with Broadstone Desert Horizons regarding the lease, but they would not consider it. In fact, they informed me the penalties they would charge would be more than paying the monthly payments on the lease. So, we ended up paying the payments of over $600 per month for the duration of the lease. In December, I returned to check out of the apartment. Broadstone Desert Horizons informed me that the lease ran until Jan 5, 2010 so I owed them additional fees for water and rent for that time. Remember no water was used and no one used the apartment now for 4 1/2 months. I was informed at the time if I wanted my deposit back, the room would have to be approved by the maintenance foreman.

We spent most of a day making sure the apartment was cleaner than when we first saw it. I went with the maintenance foreman when he inspected the room. He said we would receive our complete deposit back. They said it would take 14 days before we would receive our deposit. I recently called them because we have not received our deposit yet. Now they claim we never paid a deposit. Additionally, they said they forgot to charge us to other fees, in the amount of $145 and have turned that over to a collection agency.

This organization is the most unprofessional, dishonest and uncooperative group of people I have ever encountered. If these people represent the community of Scottsdale, you have it. We won't be back.
