I was evicted by Great Atlantic in Dec 2006 for rent. There were several code compliance violations. Although I was in the military the Sailors Act did not protect my family and I from eviction. My rent was paid by military allotment. I entered into a set aside rental agreement, paid the holding fee and was allowed to move into the aparment. Then 30 days after my move in the office said that I had a delinquent balance/deposit and added into my rent.

When I showed them the set aside agreement letter signed by myself and housing they would not fix the error. I attempted to dispute the bill with no avail. I was evicted for immediate possession only. After I moved into military housing Great Atlantic posted a civil judgment on my former address without proper service and won because I was not properly served.

If i gave up immediate possession why were they able to sue me for rent owed? Three judgements have been placed on my credit by this company and they have not even allowed me a chance for a payment plan. They illegaly served notice on my former apartment knowing that I lived in Navy housing.
