My husband and I signed our first close on a 2004 Fleetwood Eagle Tracer on July 17,2003 and our good faith estimate had us paying $417.00 a month. In early Oct we travled to Montgomery Al. to sign our second close and found out our payment was $524.00 a month. We refused to sign the papers because we told our salesperson Charles Ash that because my husband was the only one working and I was in school we could not afford anything over the $417.00.
He had assured us that it would not be over that but after coming home from Montgomery Charles Ash told us we had to sign the papers or it would mess my husbands credit up. So we called Transland Financial where we borrowed the money and Michael Mitchell along with Paul Miller told us as well that if we didn't sign the paper that the house would be foreclosed and it would go on my husbands credit. So on Oct 15th we went back to Montgomery to sign the papers but not before Charles Ash gave us a legal document stating all problems with the home would be fixed in a short time. Oct 30 to be exact.
After we signed our last closing I continued to call long distance to try to get Ironwood to come fix the problems to the home. These problems consist of the drier not being vented out, there is an inch gap in between the 2 trailers, all 3 doors leading to the outside aren't sealed. All of the caulking looked terrible. Well on Nov. 22 an FHA inspector came to my home and made me aware that my home wasn't tied down correctly and that I should not have vinyl skirting but my home should be blocked, bricked or treated lumber with an access door leading under the home because that is FHA regulation. I looked into what this man told me and come to find out my home wasn't even tied down to state requirements.
The Alabama Manufactor Housing Commission came back out and had to get the set up crew Ironwood Homes hired back out to tie my home up correctly. I sent a certified letter to Ironwood Homes on Nov 24 giving them until Dec 15 to fix all the problems that were their responsiblity. On Dec 13 Charles Ash called me and told me he could have someone come in an hour to vent the drier out. Well an hours notice wasn't enough because I wasn't going to be home. I told him I would have to be home and the gentlemen he was sending out stole something from my home prier to this date so I didn't want him or his brother at my home with or without me there. They never called back.
On Dec 30th I sent another certified letter to Ironwood Homes giving them until Jan 15th to respond and I still haven't heard a word. I had to pay $50 to have someone come out and vent my drier to the outside of my house after waiting 4 monthes now on Ironwood Homes. They are not the only people I am contacting. I have sent a complaint to FHA which in return sent it to my mortgage company Transland. I have also hired an FHA inspector to come back to my home only to find out my home is still not tied down to FHA regulations. I have sent several certified letters to FHA, Transland, Fleetwood, and Ironwood homes.
Fleetwood tried to send someone to come fix their part but I ask could they wait until Ironwood fixed their part just in case Ironwood happens to mess something else up while their here. Fleetwood agreed that it would be better to wait until Ironwood setup the house right first before they have someone come out to touch everything up.At the present time I have ask Fleetwood to now go ahead and come do their part. They have alot of things to fix too. A total of about 50 or 60 problems. I am very dissatisfied with the way Ironwood Homes tried to half_ss set this house up and not fix it like it should have been fixed. It doesn't look like a 2004. And its not nearly worth what my husband and I paid for it.
Moisture has been able to come into my home almost 4 months now. Because the doors arent sealed you can see the water running on the inside of the home when its cold. The water runs on the carpet. The drier just got vented today Jan 7 out of my pocket and I tell you its been a pain everytime you wash and dry cloths you have to open your back door and let the vent hang out the door. I done this every other day for almost 4 months. We have been living in the home since Sept 1,2003. This has been a nightmare for my husband and I. Buying your first home is suppose to be a good experience. You are suppose to love where you live if you don't love anything else. This house looks terrible. I spent my entire Thanksgiving and Christmas worried about this house. I even have mold growing on my doors due to the moisture. I had to have someone come check it to make sure it would not harm my child. I have been emotionally and phisically tired of dealing with this.
It got really stressful after the FHA inspector came out and let me know the house wasn't even tied down correctly. I worry at night when the wind gets rough. I have had to spend alot of time away from my studing in college because I have to take time out to certify letters and try to talk to people to see what to do next. We were renting an apartment before we bought this house and I hated it. No privacy, no backyard, nothing to call your own. I was so ready to get into a home with my new husband and to be able to see my son play in the backyard. I was ready to cut grass and plant flowers and just enjoy my home. Now. I wish I was still in the apartment. Buying a home for us has been a nightmare.
