Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I purchased a new modular home in 2008 and since we have occupied our home, there has been numerous issues that have not been addressed like damaged carpet in the master bedroom, the carpet is loose and flat from stored building materials (it is walked on all the time), the floor in the hallway is bulging and it is getter worse everyday and the ceiling in the hallway, where one of the installers fell through, has not been repaired correctly, and the kitchen window steams up and leaks. We have repeatedly requested that these items be repaired since we have moved in and the response was that it was not their problem.

The walls and ceiling cannot be finished/painted without seeing imperfections. The bulge in the hallway is definitely a tripping hazard and is becoming worse. The carpet in the bedroom may become a tripping hazard and will wear out quicker than the rest. The home is supposed to be energy-efficient, but with the steaming and leaking window, how can it be.

It appears that this dealer does not back up what they sell or does not care about the consumer.

On June 9th, 2009 me and my wife visited Showcase Home in which my wife fell in love with a beautiful home. The salesman Kent G. talked with us about the purchase of the home. At that time he asked to check my credit. Afterward he stated it's good and we can do business. He asked for $1,300.00 down. After receiving our money, the mortgage company that Showcase Homes use contract me and my wife and stated we had some old bills on our credit report that needed taken care of. So we paid the old bills, then for five months they drag us for pay stubs and bank statements, promising us every month we are getting ready to close on the deal.

On December 10, 2009 I contracted Kent G. and had him to sign a letter that if the closing don't take place by January 10, 2010, he would refund me my deposit. He signed the letter in agreement. On January 11, 2010 I call Kent G. and ask him when would it be a good time for me to pick up my money. He stated, "I don't have the money right now, but if you could wait until Friday I will give you your money." Later that day Kent called and stated I'm not giving you back all your money.

Last week January 5, I had to pay for an appraiser and sales taxes. I ask him what you appraised. The trailer has to be built, in which you can't build until we close. It was an attempt to take my money. I feel someone like that is a thief and a liar because I gave him a deadline and he tried to create a bill to take my money. And he needs to stop trying to take hard working people's money. At this time I'm preparing to take him to small claim court for my deposit. Consequence: mental damage and having us preparing to move month after month being discouraged by a lien salesman.
