Avmed requires prior-authorization for Tamiflu. The medication for H1N1 virus. This medication must be taken within 48 hours of onset of symptoms; thus, forcing people to pay for it out-of-pocket. This behavior causes delays and expedites the spread of the disease. I had to pay for the medication; otherwise, if I had to wait until the doctor's office open on Monday or did not have the money my 6 year old could had gotten very sick

I have been taking Aciphex for over a year for severe reflux and gastropareisies. I have tried ALL other acid reducers and Aciphes has been the only one that works. Due to a job change we have AVMED, I went to the pharmacy to renew the prescription and AVMED refused to cover it. They say I need a form filled out by the doctor. I have run out of the medicine and in pain. I called AVMED and asked for help and what I should do. They said the ER was a covered beneifit with 50 copay.
It is INSANE to not authorize a needed prescription, to contain costs, while allowing the ER which will be thousands of dollars. Likewise my condition is worsening which may infact cost more. I have severe chest pain that is now radiating into my back. Impossible to eat, work, relax or sleep because I can not take my usual prescribed medicine.
