The Law Office of Richard Brennan took over the credicure accounts earlier this year. Since then, they have made repeated late payments to my creditors, accruing late fees that I have to pay. I have one creditor that has not been paid for 3 months already and has dropped me from their debt management program. This month, checks have bounced to to of my creditors and I was charged a returned check fee. It is nearly impossible to get through and speak to someone at this office. When you do speak to someone they put the blame on the credit card companies and pretty much tell you that it is your problem to deal with.
They have used the following excuses: the creditors are not cashing their checks when they get them, the creditors are applying credit to the wrong accounts, the creditors are not accepting electronic payments, the creditors are sending back payments, and they have also told me that they have told me that they could not get information a couple of times because their computers were down. In August, they sent us a letter stating that we had the option of staying with them and paying a $1500.00 retainer or move over to another debt counseling program.
This past week, they sent out an e-mail to former credicure clients stating that they were moving us over to another debt counseling program and we needed to fax over all of our records to them. They violated our privacy by including all 75 of our e-mail addresses in the address bar. I have received about 20 e-mails from other clients with the same problems, their feelings of frustration and hopelessness with the situation.
When we first began with credicure we had to put down a substantial deposit that was supposed to be returned to us upon the completion of the program. I personally can not afford to lose this payment or else I would stop the electronic payments to the law firm. Also, we were never notified by credicure or the law offices that we were being switched over to another office. I only found out when late payments were being made and I called the office to find out what the problem was. Right now I am getting no response back from the office when I e-mail and can not get through to talk to anyone.
I have accrued late fees and returned checks fees. One of my accounts is 3 months behind on payments and have dropped me from their debt counseling program and have increased my interest rates. This has of course negatively impacted my credit. I am extremely stressed and depressed. I feel like I am trapped and do not know what to do.
