Consumer Complaints & Reviews

There was an ad in the online Brooklyn Paper (found under classifieds - employment) stating that people can stuff envelopes from home to earn $12 per envelope. It directed me to call them (I forgot the number). When I called, there was a recording which asked me to give my name and address to receive the info. I did. A week later, I received an envelope from them postmarked as "Jacksonville, FL 320, 25 Sep 2010 PM 4 L". The mailing label with my address is neatly typed. The stamp they used is a .44 cent American Flag. The only information they sent me is "guaranteeing" the ability to earn an unlimited amount of money by stuffing envelopes.

The front of the page is dedicated to convincing the reader that the reader can earn $3,000 per week stuffing envelopes and that this is not a scam. The back of the page requests a $47.77 registration fee, which will be refunded as soon as the first 100 envelopes are mailed. The bottom half of the 2nd page is sectioned off for the reader to cut off and return to Global Publications, P.O. Box 520, Bunnell, FL 32110 with the registration fee in the self-addressed envelope provided. It also gives the reader an opportunity to receive additional money making offers valued at $59.99 and goes further to give the reader an opportunity to have their name entered into a monthly cash award drawing if they receive a reply within 3 days.

I did not submit any money, however, the company or person behind this scam now has my address and phone number which leaves me wondering if I will be harassed by them or even have identity theft issues.

The company keeps sending me "renewal" notices for magazines. Recently, I got a renewal notice for PC Magazine. I subscribe to PC Magazine thru the publisher, Ziff-Davis. The order form is designed to look like a renewal notice to get unsuspecting subscribers to "renew" thru GPS.
