I ordered two sets: Peeler and cutter
Each set was $14. They came in two small boxes in a bubble envelope. It weighed about 13 oz. I was charged $31.80 for shipping!! When I called to find out why, I was told I had to pay $7.95 per peeler. They would not refund my money. I would not have ordered one set - let alone two - if I had known.

I feel this is a scam and rip off and I want to let others know about it!

This was an ad on TV and I believe they said if you order the peeler you will get the cutter free, just pay shipping! There is no way I would pay $32 for shipping 4 potato peelers - So this is a scam!!

Even 7.95 per set is ridiculous. My bill came to almost $60. I am very upset.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HOME SMART.

I ordered a product from Home Smart that also promoted a free item with the order. While placing the order I knew of the shipping and handling fee. After placing the order I the screen then showed that I had to pay two shipping and handling, one for the free item and with no means to cancel the order. I called immediately to attempt to cancel the order. I was told wait 24 hours for the item to get entered into the system. After the order is in the system it may take a day or two to ship. This happened on 2/3/09.

I called again on 2/4/09 and I was told the same thing and the order wasnt in the system yet, try calling back tomorrow. I called again at 10 AM eastern time and spoke with another operator. This operator told me that the order was in the system and has already been processed to ship and is unable to cancel the order. I asked to speak to a manager. After a period of time Mr. K got on the phone and proceeded to tell me the same thing. I told him Ive been calling everyday to cancel the order due to the double S&H charge. Mr. K stated it is company policy that once an item is processed to ship it cannot be canceled.

I asked Mr. K if the item had left the facility yet and he replied that it had not. I asked him to retrieve the package from the shipping department and he said it is not company policy to do that. I asked him to cancel the shipment with the vendor so the vendor wouldnt process the package to ship and Mr. K said he could not. Mr. K did say I could return the item but would not give me a return authorization number to do so, it was not company policy. I asked Mr. K if he would at least refund the second S&H charge which is the only reason I have been attempting to cancel the order and again he stated that it was not company policy to do so.

I would advise never to purchase anything from Home Smart Product. There policy is have NO customer service, insure that they take an order without providing the total price until after the order is placed, they insure that no one can cancel an order and will not authorize a return.
