Elite Moving

Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I contracted this mover on 1-14-10 to move me from Las Vegas to Indiana. I told the girl I had a 10 x 10 storage and really did not know what was in it as I was in Indiana. But I told her there was at least a 100 boxes in it. They quoted me a price of 934.00. When they went to pick up my stuff, I had Nancy's there to do the pick up with them. She had called me to tell me that it was going to be a little more because they had to pack boxes which I said ok. When I got the call from the moving people about 2 hours later, the bill went to 2600.00. I have told them over and over I did not know what was in there.

I filed a complaint with the BBB but nothing was done. I understand I have to pay but triple the amount. I never received a bill for 2600.00 yet. I seen it as they had sent it to the BBB. I have asked for one and the mgr. said no problem but as of this date nothing yet. I don't want other people to get caught with your pants down so to speak on these movers. Had I checked with a few friends and the BBB, I would not have even talked to them. They bad mouthed the company I was going to go with and the girl in the office called my sister and at that time no one knew I was moving my stuff. It came as a shock. I should of known right there they could not be trusted to do a good job. She (the girl in there office) should of been able to keep numbers straight when making phone calls. Their loaders did not tell my girl the price increased 3 times until after the truck was loaded and the mgr or whom ever made a remark about how many wardrobe boxes I had was ridiculous, which since I am paying for it should of not mattered. To me, they are not professional at all.

It is part my fault as I did not know what was in there, but the loaders could of noticed that I was going to take up more than 269 cubic ft as they quoted. They did not say that to my pick up person. The company is not reliable as they have stated. They have not tried to meet me half way on anything. They have just totally ignored this. They have my belongings until next week when they will be delivering them to Indiana I hope. I am just so upset because they have not tried to help me in anyway. And I was not expecting a 2600.00 bill. I do not even have that kind of money. I had to borrow the first half to pay them the 1270.

what I am so upset about is the fact they did not let me know the price was going to triple before they loaded the truck. And if they say different they are lying because my girl said they did not tell her until the truck was loaded. I have an statement for that if needed. I think they should take some of the responsibility of this as well as me. But they are saying it is all my fault. And I do not believe that it is. They have done nothing at all to amend this not even I am sorry. I do not want other people to get stuck like I did. I could of moved my self back here for 1800.00 because at one time I was going to move it my self. I could of rented truck and the gas. And it still wouldn't of been that much. Thank you for the time.

They moved my stuff, underquoted me by about 50%, then damaged part of my bedroom set AS WELL as destroyed 2 doors in my (then) fiance's house! They said they would fix it within 30 days (done in Oct. 08) and now (Feb of 09) nothing has been done! And the manager and the owner continue to ignore me and NEVER return calls!

Two doors that still have not been fixed or replaced, and a mirror from the bedroom set in the same state. Total loss, about $1000.

The estimator (owner's wife) came out and looked at all of our goods and furniture, both in our home and storage unit. We were provided a price, based on cubic feet (which we have sense discovered to be illegal since 2005), based on everything that she saw and we were told the price was bonded at that price. When the crew arrived to load the truck they immediately informed us we would require roughly twice the amount of space we were originally told, hence twice the price. Under quoting by 50% is not a mistake. That is an intentional and malicious manipulation.

We were also told us that our items would be delivered within 3 - 7 business days of our desired delivery date. Not true. Once we informed them of our desired delivery date they provided us with an email that stipulates that they have 21 business days from the delivery date to deliver items. If hold to their word, we should receive a call tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath. It would be the first time they've fulfilled a promise.

The financial ramifications have been devastating. We have been forced to buy the most basic items that we would not otherwise have had to do. We have been sleeping, eating and working on the floor for three weeks. This has also resulted in a physical toll as well from not having proper beds, chairs and couches for so long. Oh, and they also destroyed a door frame during the move.

I hired Elite Moving & Storage to help me move from my condo to a nearby house. The last item that needed to be moved was the fridge. I asked the movers if they knew how to unhook a refrigerator. They said they did. I also asked them if they turned the water leading to the refrigerator off. They said that they did. After they moved the fridge out, they suggested that a bucket would help catch some slowly leaking fluid coming from the refrigerator line (used to provide water to the ice & water dispenser). It was explained to me that the water coming from the line was just the residual water left in the refridgerator line. I believed them and we left.

Late that evening, I received a call from the neighbors downstairs who told me that a leak was coming through their ceiling from my condo (this has never happened before). I returned to the condo and went upstairs with my former neighbor to discover the bucket (with the refrigerator line in it) slowly overflowing. My neighbor went to the bathroom (where the waterline comes from) and turned the water off. That stopped the leak coming from the line but doesn't change the fact that my neighbor has ceiling damage from the leak.

I called Elite on the next business day to tell them what happened. They told me that their supervisor insisted that the water was turned off (which implies that the bucket was overflowing from extra water in the refridgerator line and that I did not witness my neighbor turn the water off).

This company came to us through the internet. Heather (the owner) called to give us an estimate. I told her we had a large 3 bedroom house with lots of antiques that I wanted to be sure were handled carefully. She said she would be sure and send her VIP crew and estimated it would take a 4-man crew 8 hours (including travel time) to move us, so cost would be about $760.00. On the day of the move, they arrived 1-1/2 hours late, but recorded an earlier arrival time on their worksheet. They brought the 3 wardrobe boxes they had promised, but they did not have metal bars so were useless.

This VIP crew scratched & dented my antique furniture, scraped paint off the walls of our new house, put holes in sheet rock and broke the leg off an oak table! They brought such a small truck that they had to make 2 trips, so time to move us more than doubled. At the end of the day, they had us sign paperwork, but did not leave any copies for us. They charged us over $400 for packing supplies alone. The move that was estimated at $760 cost us $1940 and was a nightmare!

My husband & I have both moved many, many times in our lives and have never experienced anything like this. We felt bullied and abused. The next morning we put a stop on our check (I called Heather at 8 a.m. that day to tell her what we were doing) in the hopes that we could get copies of our paperwork to doublecheck everything and try to work out some type of adjustment to the cost of the move, given the large amount of damage to furniture and house. Heather was a nightmare to try and talk to. She offered nothing.

When we did finally get paperwork, we noted that the hours had been added up incorrectly. She refused to refund us anything. She threatened to sue us for triple damages. We spoke to an attorney who told us that we should never have given them a check, but we were naive about how to deal with everything and in such a state of shock that night, we just weren't thinking. Now we're struggling with the claims process since it turns out they don't have an insurance carrier and are self-insured. What do you think the chances are that we will get any satisfaction?

They picked up my stuff on March 18, 2007. My original quote was $2500. Once they started packing they told me that I was going to need to pay extra for them to insure the safety of my furniture. I paid a total $5500 for them to move my 2 bedroom home.

When they arrived with my stuff it was ALL BROKEN--my sectional, China cabinet, dining table, washing machine, 50 gal. fish tank, children's furniture, office chairs, lamps, you name it. They documented that they broke everything. When I called the owner he told me that he would make everything better, just go through claims. I did, and they offered us $325 for EVERYTHING.

I called him back and told him PLEASE, just at least give us what we paid in packing to INSURE our furniture's safe arrival. He said no. Then I said please just $1000 to help us replace our sofa so we had somewhere to sit. We have three kids and can't afford to replace anything.

I have had to put a new washer on credit and I don't have a sofa for my family to sit on or a table for my family to eat on.

ON move in day, the movers took the scenic route instead of following me on the highway, They claimed that their commerical moving truck does not go over 65mph....duh....they could have travel the speed limit(55)..I arrived at the my new home an hour before the movers did. Anyway, after waiting an hour for the movers to arrive, they charged me extra because of the time. (scammers!!!). A four hour job, took them 8 hours.
