Consumer Complaints & Reviews

What happened to us is exactly what the article says happened to other people. I could not believe what I was reading "16 South Florida movers indicted"....after the nightmare whoever we contacted about this told us there was nothing we could do and they had gotten away with it. We were told since this was an interstate move from ct to fl it is not regulated. Whatever that means!

Not only did they make us pay additional for our stuff or we would never get it, but they stole from us and destroyed many of our personal belongings. The movers literally took pieces of items off the truck...pieces of chairs, pieces of a table, smashed glass, smashed bins, broken lamps, wedding gifts of ours, etc. This is a nightmare that we relive everyday as we look at our damaged and missing goods and it has been 4 yrs this month that we left ct. You know, one of the movers listed could very well be our mover as he changed his name often to get away from black marks from the bbb.

Last September my 92 year old grandparents hired this company to move 700 square feet of goods from Philadelphia to San Diego. Already a victim of ID theft 5 months before, they were penniless and still living on Social Security. They were quoted a price over the phone for 700 cu ft. which they accepted. Upon arrival and loading the things into the truck, "David" came back and said that they had 1500 square feet worth of stuff. They paid over FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS with money they needed to borrow to move these things to San Diego. Upon arrival, the things were loaded by their own truck drivers into a 1500 sq foot storage unit and much to everyones surprise, it was only 1/2 full. Infinity refuses to reimburse for the overcharge. They are RUTHLESS and GUILTY of ELDER ABUSE, FRAUD AND THIEVERY.

Yesterday I was with Infinity Moving Co movers for two hours as they packed up the belongings in Dover, NJ. (I had also been on the phone the day before with Danielle discussing the estimate.) These three fellows were most professional and efficient, as well as personable.

Nevertheless, I was increasingly disappointed as I watched the process of preparation:

There was a concerted effort to expand the contents of the move:
-Deciding without consultation to crate furniture without stating the $100 charge, when wrapping them in blankets and tape was quite sufficient.

(Ex: a book case that had cost the shipper $5)

- Informing the customer after the fact that (clearly marked) Large boxes were really extra large: and would count as twice the medium boxes, even though they were 1 times the medium box. And yet undersized boxes were not adjusted for. (Box size was not specified at all when the estimate was given.)

- Not consolidating boxes (ex: castors and extras) into one box, butspreading them into two imfilled.

- Determining the final price of the move based on some vague truck measurement that could not be determined until the truck was filled, at which point there was no turning back.

Hired this company to move me from Massachusetts to Las Vegas, and my son on to Palm Springs. Had written estimate.

Pick up was a day late then after got some of the stuff on the truck, they doubled the estimate stating the estimates are always wrong. I asked them to remove my stuff and leave, they advised they used $300 worth of supplies (I did all the packing myself and there was no estimate on supplies or disclosure on what they needed to use)They would not remove my stuff and we settled on a higher amount.

They then attempted delivery a day earlier than agreed to, threatened to put my stuff in storage at $1000/day and a redelivery fee of $650. Even with hours of conversation with the people at Infinity, they would not reset the delivery without additional cost.

Finally we got our goods at the agreed price, but with only the delivery of everything to California (we paid extra on the agreement for the additional stop. If we had then do the Las Vegas delivery that was to be another $450.

At delivery, we had money orders as per the agreement, they demanded cash. There is some damage to my stuff which I will address but do not expect a resolution. I found out after that the company that did the pick up and delivery was not Infinity, but a company hired by Infinity.

On 4/15/2008 I contracted with Maya T. with Infinity Van Lines for them to move my household goods from Brandon, FL to Raleigh, NC for an agreed upon price of $1252.50 at which time I paid a 10% deposit of $125 by credit card. I have the receipt. The pick up date was 5-14-08 and delivery date was 5-17-08. This is the statement of what happened from the pick up of our goods to the dropping off of our goods in a parking lot, not at the specified address.

Driver (Avi) called us at 6:00pm of 5/13/08 and said they had to pick up our load a day early. We were forced to finish packing but we were done when they arrived at 6:45pm. Immediately upon examining our furniture the driver gave me a new price of $2500.00. I insisted on speaking to his supervisor. He called some guy named Chris who told me it would be better to accept Avi's price then to have the furniture weighed. They had not weighed the truck before they brought it and it had another partial load on it. There was no way they could get an actual weight on mine because they hadn't weighed the other load on the truck.

They loaded the truck with my stuff and they the driver asked for the money and I gave him a check for $600.00 which was agreed from my original binding price. He was really angry and said he was going to weigh it and I would be charged more. He was very intimidating but I stood my ground. I refused to sign his new priced bill of lading. He finally left at 11:30pm, which caused us to stay in a hotel at a cost of $49.95. If they had come on the 14th as planned, we would have been able to drive directly to our destination of Raleigh, NC.

I called the next day to their office to straighten this out and Chris who had posed as a supervisor the night before, just for intimidation purposes, said the new price was $3400.00 after weighing truck. I asked for the CAT Scale weight charts and they faxed them to me. They still had the other person's load on the truck when they said mine weighed 8240 lbs. Both scale reports were dated 5-14-08, which was impossible, because the driver said he didn't know where there were any scales in my area and he left my house at 11:30pm and he said they were headed back to Hollywood, FL so my goods could be loaded on a tractor trailer. I kept asking to speak to Maya who gave me the original price and was refused. They told me my furniture had been sent back to Hollywood, FL and they would not ship it until I paid the full amount.

This was also a lie and I found out from Maya that all my stuff was still in Tampa at their warehouse. I finally reached her several days later and she said they would take off the original $200 discount she gave me but I would have to pay $1300.00 before they could ship it and then I would still owe $1167.00 at pick up. I let them charge my credit card $1300.00 because I was desperate to get my things. I kept telling them my husband was diabetic and needed his supplies because I had only packed enough for our trip to North Carolina. They didn't care. The Household goods inventory they made on picking up my goods matched the list given to Maya over one month before except for an additional 10 boxes and I agreed to pay for them. But the only reason that there were additional boxes was because they threw items like my vacuum, small boxes, bags with towels, etc. into large boxes to increase cubic feet and weight. They charged me $280 for packing the additional boxes.

When the delivery driver (Shay) called us on 5/22/08 he asked my husband to drive a few blocks away where they were parked to see is they could get the tractor trailer into the apartment complex. After driving through the complex the driver said he couldn't get the trailer in there and would have to charge an additional $500 to load our goods on a smaller truck the next day so they could fit into the complex. I said no. There was plenty of room. He got very verbally abusive to me and said he was going to leave. I therefore had to hire a 26 ft truck and 4 people with it to assist him in unloading and reloading my goods on the new truck and to the apartment to finish their contract.

While we were waiting for the other truck a neighbor, on the street where they were parked ,called the police because the driver said he was just going to unload right on the street 3 blocks from my home. When the police arrived he changed his tune and agreed to wait for the new truck and also while on the phone with his supervisor (Shane) he said he would not accept my money order for $700 which was the final forced balance they insisted on while holding my goods hostage, because they wanted me to cash the money order and give them cash. The police also convinced them to accept the money order. After the police left and I was walking back to the truck with the driver, got very aggressive pointing his finger at me and shaking the other fist, and asked me if I had called the police. He said if I had he would dump my goods out of the truck and smash every piece and he didn't care if the police or his company liked it or not. I was so intimidated that I told him I did not call the police, that the neighbor did and he got in the cab and stewed.

When we heard that the newly hired truck was almost there we told the driver to drive a few blocks to a grocery parking lot and we would unload there where there was light. When the new truck arrived the driver (Shay) literally threw our items at the 4 men we hired to unload and reload on the new truck and them unload again at our house. Almost every large piece of furniture was damaged and they just said file a claim and kept throwing the items off the truck. I have a list of damaged items when needed. The tractor trailer they arrived in had the name of Priority Van Lines on the side door with an address of N. 37th Ave, Hollywood, FL 33021 with a DOT # 1760686, MC # 643685, VIN # G40339 and License plate of New Jersey TFD-70E. Phone # on truck was Net Corp Truck.

It was a 53 ft trailer and the driver insisted our goods took up one forth of the space. We loaded it loosely on a 26ft truck and only used 1/4 of that truck. This company scammed us for over $2450.00 more than quoted and caused our furniture and goods to be severely damaged and delayed over five days from guaranteed date. Our contract had a clause that stated our price was a "not to exceed cost" price. They did not provide any kind of customer service to us and they actually never delivered our belongings to our agreed upon address. It cost me an additional $450 dollars to pay the additional four movers and truck I had to hire from Triangle Central Warehouse, Inc. Please help us to stop these scam artists from hurting anyone else and to get a refund of $2450.00 plus damages from this fraudulent company.

We paid rent for an empty apartment for the week we did not have furniture. We had to find a place to stay while our goods were held hostage. We had to hire an additional truck and 4 men to complete our move at a cost of $450. Our goods were dumped in a parking lot and the contracted Infinity Van lines driver did not help reload on the other truck nor deliver and unload to the address in the bill of lading. On 5-18-08 my husband, Dana, had to go to emergency room because we had only packed enough medication for the move. The bill was over $1378.00 plus doctors charges and such. I have fibromyalgia and went through considerable pain and suffering not having my tempurpedic bed and other items for almost a week after the agreed upon delivery date.

Infinity Van Lines, Maya T., Charlie O. all cost me over $2450.00 more than the agreed amount plus considerable pain and suffering. Most of my furniture is very expensive and was damaged severly. I have the pictures to prove it. This company has had other complaints of the same kind and I want them put out of business. I was verbally abused, threatened with both damage to me and my goods.
