Consumer Complaints & Reviews

We had a scheduled move from Woonsocket, RI to Massena, NY and a firm pick update confirmed by the company that was to pick up our stuff. They showed up a day late and then very uncarefully they moved things from a 3rd floor. Some things were thrown out the window to the ground and other things were left behind even after asking if they were taking these things. The major problem was that the 2 guys could hardly speak any english, they were tired too. They showed me that they had been on the road for the last week nonstop. They came from MD. I also saw that they sleep in their truck and I think live in it most times.
The same 2 guys delivered my things, things had been gone thru, many things were missing and what was there was broken. When I phoned the company directly they continuously hung up on me and were very rude. I was sworn at and told that if I didn't cooperate I would loose all my things. We were forced to spend nearly 2 weeks waiting for our things after the delivery date. We were told that a credit card could be used to pay the balance, until the day they delivered. They would only take cash. With all the evidence of the damages the broker assured me that they would get a refund of sorts to me for the move and the mess up about the credit card. Nothing has been done over a year later. The bill was outrageous.
The reason I say that is the weight bill was for a different truck then what was the one that delivered (a BIG no no.) The cost per pound that was quoted was nearly 1/3 of what was the cost per pound charged. I have since found out that this company that delivered was a fly by night type. They continue to be in business under different names all the time. Their only contact number is a cell phone. They keep changing their name to be almost like reputable companies.
Forced to loose security deposit due to extra day in apt. Forced to stay in motel for nearly 2 weeks. 60TV broken, antique dishes tossed from 3rd floor rendered to pieces. Dresser drawers smashed to pieces. Too much to list.

I just completed a move with Nationwide Relocation, also known as movingcost.com. While the process started out great, as soon as the move was booked and a deposit made, almost all communication stopped.
I was told that the movers would be there for pick up 1/9/07 or 1/10/07. The later date was key, because I am a single woman driving across country alone and needed to get to NV to start work. On numerous occasions I told my counselor that I had to have pick up no later than early on 1/10/07. I was told I be contacted 24-48 hours before the movers arrived. When I hadn't heard from anyone by 1/8/07 I called a dispatch number that was given to me by Connie. They acted like they weren't sure of a date, but said the movers would be there 1/10/07. On the evening of 1/9/07 the mover called and said he'd be at my home around 3:30pm on 1/10/07. I told him that was pretty late and I really wanted to be on the road during the daylight hours because of the drive, weather and being alone. I received a call at 3:30pm on 1/10/07 from the driver saying he couldn't make it. The excuse was that TDOT had given them a problem. He said he'd be there first thing the next morning.
I was very upset and called moving cost. I left a VERY detailed message stating how upset I was. I did receive a call back from Connie and she stated that I would be compensated for the delay on the delivery end. She said the delay was because the previous pick up took longer. The next morning when I hadn't heard from the movers, I called him at 8:30am. He said he didn't have my contact information, but he was just down the street. He said he couldn't come the day before because the driveway was too steep. 3 different stories. He arrived at 9am and didn't start to move anything out of my apartment for over an hour. They knew how upset I was about getting on the road and still it took them until after 1pm to get a 1 bdrm apartment (20 boxes a bed, sofa, 2 end tables, dresser, dinette table and 3 chairs, washer and dryer, small entertainment center and 26 inch TV) unloaded. The kicker was that he told me that it was customary to pay a 15% tip in cash, 1/2 upfront and the other 1/2 at delivery. I refused to pay a tip for service that hadn't even been performed.
I left TN as soon and my apartment was empty and started driving to NV. There was a major ice storm approaching and I was extrememly scared to be driving alone. Because of their delay, I ended up driving in a major ice and snow storm and to make up time had to drive after dark.
I have e-mailed and left VM for both the consultant and the quality assurance person I was assigned and no one has responded. Last week I called again to see when my goods would be delivered and no one called me back. I called the dispatch number and I was told that it could be 1/21/07, but that someone would call on 1/20/07 to confirm. At 8:30am on 1/21/07 the movers called and said they'd be at my home in 20 minutes to unload. Some of my boxes were crushed and open, my 6 month old washing machine in dented and scratched, my dresser has a chunk missing from the corner and a chair is broken. Again he asked for a tip. I felt that I was being coerced. I did not receive any adjustment as I was promised due to the delay. It was an absolutely awful experience.

We signed a contract stating the furniture would be picked up on 2-26-05-2-28-05. After verifing the pick up from MovingCost.com who is using Tiger Moving and storage out of Texas that they would be there on the 2-26-05. No show, no phone calls. I could not reach anyone from MovingCost via phone afer 1:30 on Sat. 2-26-05. Could not get in touch with anyone until the next business day, this was 2-28-05. I called as soon as the Co. opened at 8:30. They in turned called to Tiger moving and storage. They called back to say that Tiger had been trying to get ahold of myself and my husband, but answer. They read off the phone numbers, except our 2 most imporant phone numbers our cell phone numbers, they were instucted to use those since it was not the weekend, and neither one of us would be at work!
MovingCost had a cell phone numbers, but Tiger said they were never given those phone numbers. Well on Tuesday 3-1-05 Tiger moving co. called to sat that they would be there at 8-10 am they got there at 11:30am. They arrived with the 18 wheeler and a rented Budget rental truck. I asked why mu furnishings where being loaded on a Budget truck? Adrene the owners Son, also the drive said, that there was not enough room on the 18wheeler for our belongings. I asked if the Budget truck would be driven to Ca? they said yes. I also verified that the furniture would still be there between 3-4-05 and 3-08-05. Adrene said "no problem". On Thursday 3-3-05 Mindy from movingcost.com called and left a message at my work that the delivery date was 3/08/05.
On 3/7/05 Monday I called to verify that the delivery was still for 3/8/05 because my husband nor myself had heard about what time, and what the final weight was and the amount that we would owe. They called back but did not have the weight ticked yet. Come Tuesday 3/8/05 still no word from Movingcost.com nor Tiger had called, I called myself to Tiger, spoke with Debby, she said that she would look into it. I called again about a hour later with still no word. I spoke with Debby and she informed me that the furniture would not be coming!!! that the furniture is coming 3/10/05 Thursday, my husband was scheduled to fly out from CA to SC to come get me the boat and dog and drive back across to CA.
I then spoke with Richard at movingcost.com he said for sure the furniture would be coming from Houston to CA on Thursday 3/10/05. I said I needed to check to see if my husband could change his flight, and who was going to pay for his cost to change the ticket? he said it was our responsibility, I also asked who is going to pay for the hotel that my husband was staying in for the next two night? he said that was also our responsibility!. He then asked why was my husband staying in a hotel? I said as of 3/8/05 my husband had checked out of a Extended Stay hotel, since there was no furniture in the house that he were moving into he would need to stay at a hotel each night until the delivery! Richard then asked why my husband needed to change his flight, could he not get our neighbors to check in our inventory!! I informed first, we don't now our neighbors since we don't live there yet, and 2nd, this is our furniture and we need to check in our own stuff!!.
Well as of Thursday 3/10/05 at 10:00am after I made a phone to Tiger moving and storage, were informed once again that the furniture would not be delivered until 5-6 days later!!
I then called movingcost.com and spoke with John who was supposed to be our contact guy, he is the one who originally set up the contract. After getting no where with him. I called to Tiger moving and storage and spoke with Debby again, she said I can not talk to you about your situation and that I would need to call to Movingcost.com. I asked her where was our furniture, it was still in Houston, it had never left. I asked why our furniture was even in Houston to begin with? she said that the budget truck was unloaded there and my stuff was then put on a 18wheeler. that truck then broke down!!.
My husband then spoke to Mindy at movingcost.com and she informed my husband the same 5-6days before the furniture would come. He said that he had already changed his flight once, and was leaving Friday eveving 3/11/05 and would be there in 5-6 days so who was going to pay for our storag until we get to Ca after driving from SC? she not us, it is up to you! That was when my husband "lost it". I then called back and asked to speak to the president of the Co. and I was not kidding. They transfered me to a voice mail, Ileft a message with Rich or Rick Rickashea ? or something like that. Later that day, Mindy from movingcost.com called to leave a message for my husband that the storage would be taken care of my Tiger moving and storage. Later that evening someone called my cell phone at 9:00pm but did not leave a message. I called back on 3/11/05 left another message again on Rich or Richs voicemail. Later that morning the owner Aldo called at about 9:30am. He said that he had called the night before with the owner of Tiger (Victor) they wanted to do a confrence call! he was rude, not concerened about out goods, he tried to explain how many moves his Co. does a month without any problems. I explained that I did not care, My move was a problem form pick up to delivery, or lack of since we still don't have our furniture.
I told him I expected that we would get compensated for the hotel cost and the airfare change, he asked the same question, why was my husband in a hotel? I explained that my husband cant sleep in a house with no furniture or refrigarator!!!. He said that he could have the furnishings delivered Saturday!! I stressed that my husband would not be there to get the items! he said that he could pull out all stops to have the truck leave right know and get to Ca by Saturday.!! Again my husband won't be there!!!, He said that he could only compensate for 2nights of stay in a Hotel because he had until 3/08/05 midnight to deliver the furnishings. He said that his compensation stopped today Saturday. 3/12/05 I then asked if he could do such a quick delivery why did he not do this on Tues for Thurs 3/10/05 delivery? no answer!!.
He then procedded to say that my husband obviously did not respect women because he spoke so filthy to Mindy at his co. movingcost.com. I quickly stated that my husband respects women, but when Mindy said abou the storage that it was our resposinibilty, like I said he "lost it". He then mentioned that we called too much! I said we would not have to call if you would of had the furniture picked and deliverd on time.
He then proceeded to count how many transactions took place on the 28 of Feb. this was the monday after no one picked up my furniture. He started counding and at about 28 I told him to "shut up" we did not make 33 phone calls, this was how many times someone made a note in our file, either us calling movingcost.com or us calling tiger moving and storage, or them calling each other or them calling us. Then he stated as the owner of the co.if he received 33 phone calls he would not return our phone calls either. I then mentioned that if the customer service dept. would atleast acknowledge that they did receive our phone and they were looking into it. Then if they still did hear something they should atleast call back to say so. Because every hour that we did not hear on pick up or delivery, that movingcost.com closes at 5:30 then we would have to wait until the next business day! At the end of the conversation with the owner Aldo, he gave my his cell phone number, and siad what ever you do don't call my 33 times in aday, "just kidding". He said that I could call him up until 11:00 pm if I called at midnight, he would be sure to call me at 3:00am.
I told him I wanted to have it in writing that we were not responsible for the cost of storage and how he quoted for reimbursement. He said that he would e-mail this to me. My husband Co. has know gotten involved, even though they did not have anything to do with the companys. They felt that if Corp. HR would atleast call the owner of movingcost.com and and least mention a Attorney or something that we might get some action!! the owner was rude to Corp. and said to them how dare you call me on my cell phone.
Our concerne is that the weight ticked will be falsified. We are requesting a re weight when the furnishings come to CA.
My husband found on a web site, movingscam.com. Tiger moving and storage are on there, they have numerous complaints filed with the BBB. We will do the same once hopefully we receive our house hold items.
