When I first planned to move my things from Minnesota to Nevada, I was going to rent a truck and do it myself. However, when I did some searching on the internet, I found a company that MSN House and Home had partnered with for moving services, National Moving Network (NMN).
The quote they gave me was less than what it would cost me to move with renting a truck and buying gas. I did some additional research and also talked with NMN before making my decision. When I asked my NMN estimator, Milton, about the BBB information on NMN, he said that the local BBB office in Florida didn't have up to date software, so the information on the site was erroneous. When the estimator also told me that NMN was the exclusive moving service for MSN House and Home, he even sent me a copy of the November 2002 press release.
So, I felt confident that I was doing business with a reputable company. His email was dated on August 5th. When the moving date drew near, I was told by NMN's Customer Relations Rep, Kay Ann, that the date for pick-up was August 26th. No confirmation by the actual mover was received. As I waited in my apartment for the mover to arrive that morning, I started to get concerned. After 3 phone calls, I found out at 1pm in the afternoon that the moving truck was delayed. The pick-up would be scheduled for August 27th.
On the 27th, I got a call from NMN Dispatch, Miguel, telling me the truck broke down. That afternoon, I moved everything out of my apartment and into storage. The pick-up was delayed for August 29th or 30th. No one from NMN called to confirm the date. With no one from NMN Dispatch in the office over the weekend, but I knew who the actually mover was, I successfully contacted the moving company. On Saturday, August 30th, I got a call from the driver saying the pick-up was delayed for August 31st. On Sunday, I got another call saying the pick-up was delayed for Sept 1st.
I was not available for this delayed pick-up and told the driver that I would need to reschedule. After all that has happened, I have tried to contact NMN to reschedule. No one will return my calls.
Also, I have discovered that they misled me with their claims of MSN House and Home exclusive partnership; the contract was terminated on July 24th according to MSN's website. According to the terms of their contract, I am only allowed to cancel 7 days prior to the estimated pick-up date, which was August 25th-26th, to receive a refund. The contract terms have limited me with no recourse or arbitration policy. NMN legalities seem to release NMN from any liability whatsoever. After the way that I have been treated, I no longer wish to do business with NMN and have started the credit card dispute process for services not rendered.
