To all that read this and have loved ones in Brookewood Nursing and Rehab In Dequeen AR and you think everything is okay, you need to check again, that is if you care about that person, because these people that are taking care of are family members are not. We found that out the hard way! If we did not vist as much as we did our Mom/Grandmother would not be here! I know thing happen in Nursing homes everywhere, but we love our Mom/Grandmother, and we visted regularly.
When we started noticeing change in her and you ask a RN or CNA if they had noticed the change in are grandmother and they would just shrug their shoulders and say no. When she would have horriable heads aches, it took the act of congress to get them lazy -ss Nurses to respond! And if you dare ask them to do their job they tell Mrs.Melanie that you make them feel intimidated! Why? Because you ask them to do their job!
The aids dont do there job either, because they are so short staffed that the ones they do have, dont do their job right causing our elderly to suffer! This is bull! Mrs.Melanie and Mrs.LaDonna say they are Christians and they love all of those people. Well they show a real fine job of it.
You tell them your family member has not had a bath for who knows how long ago, because they sure dont. They cant even show you where its documented! Because they assume their RN's are doing their job instead of checking it out, you are told that we dont need to bash their staff! What? Can you say that again? Who are they there for? The RN's or CNA's?
It must be because our elderly are dieing off, and they say well it was for the best or well it was there time to go? They think its Gods will. No its not his will for people to suffer pain or to be overdosed simply because the RN's that are supposed to work when the are, dont get up and make sure that the ones that a bed ridden and unable to care themselves are ok!!! Many times my Grandmother was not able to get to the button to let someone know she needed them!
My Grandmother was admitted to the hospital January 16,09 for a contiagous viral infection She also had a bedsoar that had started back about a month ago. She finally recovered and was discharged Jan 23,09 No one called to let us know she had been discharged and when I ask Melanie about it she told me the reason know one called us was because she no longer had Medicade, So If you or your spouse losses their Medicade they will make sure that you are treated with no respect, no compassion, because its all about the all mighty DOLLAR. They break there own rules of respect on their policy because when it comes down to it they really dont care, and for those of you who have already lost your loved ones or you are about to, you need to get their records from them and the hospital if they have some, and compare them to one another.
We did, Thats how we saw our Grandmothers lab results and saw she had Coumadin toxicity, which means she has to much in her system and that she could be having inturnnel bleeding. She has had stomach problems since. Febuary 13th my Grandmother was so sick she was drooling, she could not swallow, and was in pain. I went to one of the RN's to report what was going on with her and she just looked at me. I ask her if we could call her Dr and she said NO! That they can not page him it was the weekend and he was with his family and we would not be able to call him it Monday because it was also a holiday.
So Im standing there looking at her and I said she is dieing and she just looked at me like what do you want me to do about it! I walked away in tears! I went to my Grandmothers room to put her clothes up. My Grandmother was in the dinning hall getting ready to eat. I knew she was not able to eat. The nurse came into her room and told me her throat was really red, and I replied with can you please give her something! She has a prescription for Lortabs every four hours as needed, but she told me there are alot of times she ask and they never bring it. I went back in the dinning hall with my grandmother. The RN showed up with a Lortab. My Grandmother was not even able to get it and take it by herself she was so weak! I had to get it and put it in her mouth for her and she could bare open her mouth big enough for me to get it in her mouth. When I got her to her room she had not swallowed her water or her medicine because she could not. She had to spit it all out. They would not get her something else. She was in horriable pain.
I took her dentures out and the smell of rot came out of her mouth.It was obvious that she had not had her dentures out or cleaned in a while! I got a mouth swab and some tooth paste, food was peeling out of her mouth so bad she thought it was skin! Her mouth was so tender and hurt so bad I stopped. She finally went to sleep That night I told my Mother she did not look good. They had already planned on going and seeing her. Mom told me she did not want her to leave. Mom ask My Grandmother which is her (MOM)if she could get her anything before she left and she said yes. Could you get me a couple of diapers out of the closet because they are not as nice in here as you think they are.
Before my parnets left it was time for bed but she wanted my Mom to take her up front. She did not want to be left in there because she knew they would not check on her for a long time. She told me she tryed to change herself because she would have to lay in her own mess for a long time before anyone would help her. When I talked to Mrs.LaDonna about thing that my Grandmother would say because I was concerned about her. Mrs.LaDonna said she tells me these things because she knows she can get to me, But I knew LaDonna did not no what she was talking about, because if she would have taken the time to check on her People like she should she would see thing are not getting better. was telling me the truth! My Grandmother was admitted to the hospital again Febuary 16,09 She had horriable diarrhea and abdominal pain. It was three weeks and three days from the time she came home from her last stay in the hospital. The bedsoar that was on her Buttock from three weeks ago had gone from stage I two stage II. She also had developed another one on the side of her ankle. It was already a stage II. She weighted 170 from her last stay in the hospital and now she weighted 159! She Had mouth soar all over with white pus spotts on her tongue all of this was caused from improper cleaning and she could eat or drink and she was starving and was Dehydratied Badly!
She had a urinary tract infection with Klesiella Pneumoniae, She had Coumadin toxicity her levels where supposed to be 2-3 hers where 5.5 not good. She was in Bad shape! We where so upset and hurt because we trusted these people and they are nothing but money hunger, selfish people! All of the RN's and CNA's where very upset. Dr.Green was her Dr. He also marked possiable abuse and neglect. Its the grace of God she did not die on us. They should all be ashamed of themsleves! You know Melanie and LaDonna Like to always that Gods in all this. How can he be? God works in us, We are his Hands and Feet. If thier employees hearts are not in the right place thats its just a job to make money, than these people they are supposed to be taking care of are not being taken care of. I mother was taking to me yesterday about all of this and in that instant she heard a word from the Lord and he said Faith Without Works Is Died.
So Mrs.Melanie and Mrs.LaDonna can have all the Faith they want, but as long as they dont put the works with it they are in the wrong and alot of innocent elderly people are suffering and being hurt. She was treated with some much compassion from all of these RN's and CNA's. My Grandmother siad she was NOT going back to Brookewood nursing home! She was so scared that she did not want to talk about it or see Melanie or LaDonna ever again. We where so hurt because she trusted us and them and we could not belive how bad she got down from NEGLECT! She was discharged Febuary 24,09 to Crystal falls and it is wonderful there. Its so bright and cheerful in there. Everyone there has been so compassionate to my Grandmother. They are always checking on her,cleaning her up as soon as she needs it. When her head starts to hurt The RN is there in no time to give her some pain meds. They always call when they have changed something or she has a appointment somwhere. You couldnt ask for better people. They are doing a awesome job with my Grandmother and She is HAPPY and do good! Like I was saying earlier, if you have loved ones in Brookewood check on them OFFTEN! Request copies of there medical records and look for yourself and see If eveything looks ok. You might find yourself totally shock! Im glad we pride into things or we would have lost her! Oh and also the Nursing home has no insurance coverage or libilty on it. So If it burns and Love ones are hurt or even died I dont know what will happen. Scary thought Huh! Check on your family! We thank God we did!
